Purchased this bike rack for my husband for Father's Day. He loves it and said it was very easy to set up on his car. Used with only one bike so far. We didn't notice any movement, however he did tie the front wheel with the long straps provided. I did a lot of research and was attracted to the value of this product, the positive reviews and the materials seem sturdy and scratch proof. The pieces that rest on the car are silicone like and the same silicone is used where the bike sits. Overall, great product and value!
I was really worried about this rig on the first few uses but it has held up to my wife's racing style of driving and we haven't lost a bike yet. The only thing that really concerns me now is that the bottom strap has nowhere to attach to on a basic 2010 jeep compass
This is what I wanted, a rack to quickly setup and mount my bike on the back of my 2000 Ford Focus ZX3. It takes me just minutes to mount/unmount the unit. Very well constructed and designed and a great value for the price. Once the bike is mounted, it is very sturdy when driving around...does not rock or sway. Really impressed by its simplicity. I do agree with other reviews, the pins needing to be depressed can be a bit tough but after some practice, I can depress them easily with my thumbnail. The only issue I found is I have a bottle holder mounted on the "down tube" (the tube from the headset to the crankset) and it bumps up against the bike rack but I quickly remedied this by placing a 1/2" styrofoam in between it. Otherwise, I am very pleased with this product
This is a great bike rack at a good price. It's folding capability makes it easy to store in the trunk of the car and doesn't take up a lot of space. As with most trunk mount carriers, you need to bungee cord the bike to the rack as well as the front fork & wheel to keep them from bouncing around.
I purchased this because of excellent reviews. It is easy to put on my SUV and is very portable when folded flat. The one drawback is that the buttons that have to be pushed in to get legs, etc to fold down are very small and extremely hard to push in. I had to get a tool to do that and have packed the tool in the carry bag as I otherwise would not be able to fold it down to store.
While this product is far from the best out there I must admit it gets the job done. With only a top and bottom strap I found there was quite a bit of lateral movement that this carrier allowed for and the bikes would bounce up and down a bit. However I used this to move two bikes on the highway all the way from DC to Denver with no problems so it definitely works. Best of all the pads did provide enough cushioning so they didn't even leave a mark on the car.
I purchased online and at first I had hard time making it really stable on my car but eventually I got it and I am using it for in Town bike Carrier but I think still needs work to be really reliable.
If you dont ride or transport your bikes every day this will probably work for you. The bottom strap has elastic which with time will end up wearing out or snapping. The carrier tends to sway some since itbis hard to get it tightened all the way due to the bottom strap having to be held in place while you pull. We have been transporting our bikes nearly every day for the past 2 weeks and it seems to be wearing out, we will be getting a hitch carrier next.
We bought this carrier for our mini-van and I took it back today. There are no side supports so it wiggles pretty bad and we got scratches all over the van from the bikes. We only took a 5 mile test drive to the nearest bike shop. The owner checked to make sure it was installed correctly (it was) and told us he wouldn't recommend the product to anyone. It was really cheap compared to other carriers and now I know why. Also, for women's bikes, this doesn't work well at all. We put one mountain bike and one women's beach cruiser on it and had to flip the beach cruiser over because the handlebars didn't fit with the other bike.
I bought this as a birthday present for my boyfriend and had to return it because it didn't fit on his Impala. I guess because he has a spoiler on it, but it didn't say in the description that it didn't work with spoilers. When we did get it on (kinda) It didn't secure his bike too well and the pedal touched the bumper. His bike's frame is pretty wide and that might have been why, but it didn't seem sturdy for any bike. Would have caused damage if we actually used it.
