I’m absolutely in love with this idem. I also purchased a 6.5 gallon tank from Walmart and was upset when I opened it and it was busted. But I was excited when I opened this tank. I love it, I love that it was surrounded in styrofoam to keep it from breaking and providing extra support. I haven’t moved my fish into it yet but if anything changes I’ll update my review. The leds was a pain to clip in but they look amazing when I got them clipped in and they’re supper bright
I love it, i set it up let it run a few days. Added the stuff that needed to be added then my glo fish. I did buy a larger filter I have no idea if the one that comes with it is sufficient I just wanted a bigger one and I will have the one that came with it if i need it. I bought the blue led lights because of my GLO fish. I added live plants lava rocks and substrate, i got the written looking barrel with holes in it for them to hide in and a bubble stone. I think it is awesome.
I got this thing because I had a 5 gallon and was gifted to extra fish. Needed more space. This looks like more than 10 gallon is perfect. Looks great but with water extremely heavy be careful putting in conditioner I almost lost my fish and I had to change 30% of the water. And the light lights up the whole thing every corner I sort of wish it was LED light with different colors but this works too. Crystal clear and barely lease fingerprint. Amazing.
I will never buy an aquarium kit from anywhere else! I have 2 (10 and 20 gallon). Both arrived very quickly, with excellent package. Very sturdy with no leaks whatsoever. The lighting is nice and bright. The filters are super quiet (I only use the one for the 10 gallon since I have a bunch of equipment for older aquariums). You will have to buy a few things such as a heater/air pump/tubing. But you can get all that stuff cheap. I use Seachem products so I do not use the safe start or flakes provided. But I have used in the past as a beginner and the products are fine in my opinion. You begin to try more products as you gain more knowledge in the hobby. All in all, anyone looking to start a new aquarium. I always refer them to this kit :)
I got this tank for my betta and shrimp. It works really well and my aquatic pets seem happy! Silicone was a little messy, but it's a really good price for tank, filter, and lid/light. I have a little female veiltail betta ,named Venus :) , and the filter is a little strong, but definitely not a concerning amount of current from it. All I had left to purchase was a heater and color changing lights.
I read a lot of reviews before purchasing about how the tank leaked. For me this was not the case. It does not leak one drop of water. I will admit I have seen better built and better quality tanks, HOWEVER this is a 30$ starter kit tank people! It won't be perfect. So far I like the tank and so do my fish. They upgraded from a 4 gallon tank and they are LOVING it.
I bought three of these from Walmart. Set them up and they almost immediately started leaking out the backside from the filtration units. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see the filter has no plastic backstop or TOP? I reached out to Charles @ Aqua Culture/ Tetra and they have yet to do anything but basically avoid and deflect the obvious design flaw issue. The kits are less then two weeks old and Charles told me the filter media needed to be changed?!?? They told me the would send replacement filters upon receiving receipts and pictures which I sent and then he immediately began to backpedal. Stay clear of these, though affordable and nice looking, you'll end up replacing the filter. Luckily Walmart was able to provide some help. The manufacture to this point ZERO.
I needed an emergency hospital tank for a fish with ich and based on the reviews, I bought this kit. BIG MISTAKE! 1) The filter is useless. Under powered. It sits on one corner of the bare bottom tank, and on the other corner is all the junk (fish waster, uneaten food etc). There Is not enough water movement to even move this waste in the water column for it to get filtered. 2) Although I really don’t need them, the LEDS are useless. They barely penetrate to the bottom of the tank. I can see this would be a problem for someone that needs lights. 3) The tank is leaking at the bottom seams. Very small leak, however, I know have salt creep on the front and back seams at the bottom. See pics. My temporary stand (I used an expensive end table) is ruined now as there is a stain from the Ich medicine as it leaked out also. So now not only do I need to return the tank, I need to buy a new end table. VERY DISAPPOINTED in Tetra. I should have just bought the Aqueon Tank from Petco…..
i had this fish tank for less than 4 months and the bottom completely shattered when i was sleeping and when i woke up all the water was on my floor leaking through my ceiling and all 5 of my fish died.
Lucky it didn’t burn my house down!! One of the led lights MELTED, thank goodness we were home and awake to catch it via the smell of burning plastic!
