At first only half the stone bubbled..I couldn't figure it out and kept fussing with it..when I elevated the one end it would work but when I put flat again it didn't..I figured maybe it was bc I was using a smaller pump so I got the larger pump and now it works great..just got to play with it a little but definitely works
Very accurate description of the item.
I just recently installed one of these bubble stones in my 10 gallon tank using a Whisper pump for 10-30 gallons. At first, only half the stone was blowing weak bubbles. I then took it out and turned the black knob like thing on the end of it (end that doesn't have the air tube). Within an hour or hour and half (like directions say), the whole thing was bubbling. I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone.
Great item but they don't last long
This aquarium stone works better for me than its pricier competitors from other stores. If you find this doesn't produce or distribute bubbles evenly be sure you've soaked it in water for several days, if that doesn't help then you probably need a stronger air pump (I use the PETCO 4-outlet air pump on mine) as it does take A LOT of air power to get the entire bar bubbling. I like that this is heavy enough that it stays on the bottom of the tank, but if you choose to cover it with gravel then you'll probably need about 2 inches of gravel on top (downside). I have one of these in each of my tanks (as I breed fish) and the same ones have been working like new for over a year now.
The bubbles come out only of one side creating too much water agitation rather than the curtain they advertize
Items were broken and didn't work but they gave me a refund on them. I went and purchased them in store and those were fine.
Unfortunately, I have to review this product negatively. It only produces bubbles loudly on one side and even with a large pump.
These stones continue to underwhelm. We have been through several and after getting the same poor results each time, bought a larger air pump thinking that was the problem. It wasn't. The distribution of air through these stones is uneven, especially if you place them under the gravel in your tank. The last three inches or so of stone simply will not produce bubbles. The bubbles come out strong on the end where the air enters, then taper off long before they ever reach the other end. So your 10" bubble stone is actually a 6" bubble stone and 4" of wasted stone. In our tank, this leaves an unsightly gap between the edge of the bubbles and the edge of the tank, even though the stone itself extends to the edge of the tank.
The bubbles only came out from one corner of the air stone. I returned it and purchased a 3' in round air stone at a pet store and it works great.
