The GE AC4400CW is a 4,400 horsepower diesel electric locomotive that was built by GE Transportation Systems between 1993 and 2004, and it was their answer to EMD's successful SD70MAC. This is similar to the Dash 9-44CW, but features AC traction instead of DC, with separate inverter per motor, and more then 2,500 units were produced for the North American railroads.
