This is such a pretty feeder. Easy to use and clean and popular with the birds. We have it hanging on the patio protected from sun and weather.
Spent a lot of time researching a hummer feeder to replace the chintzy leaky glass feeder I had. Chose this design as it seemed leak-proof and also seemed very easy to keep clean. Both of my hunches are holding true. And my hummers are back! So far so good!
This feeder is ideal! It doesn't leak like the top feeding ones do. I only had it out for 2 days when a mated pair of hummingbirds found it. Today one of their young ones came. He spent most of his time sitting as he's just learning to feed himself. I love that it has a clear base so I can see more easily when it needs to be filled. I saw a few hornets drop by it but they walked around the bottom of it and didn't find a way to get the nectar. They gave up. VERY pleased with this!
We have had very bad luck with hummingbird feeders leaking, after reading the reviews I decided to try this type of feeders. We bought two and we love them. Had hummingbird come up to the feeders within a very short time. They don't leak and have an ant mote . Yay!
This feeder quickly became the hummingbird's favorite. The design prevents nectar leakage so the birds aren't battling bees for a drink. It would have scored five stars except for two issues. First, the threaded base of the hanging rod is starting to rust where it screws into the feeder (after only two weeks use - see photo). Second, a slight bend at the rods base, where the threads are, prevents the feeder from hanging level rather it is canted to one side. Had the bend been at another location I would have tried straightening the rod but was concerned I'd damage the threads and prevent them mating to the feeder.
I love how the water is at the bottom-no way to leak out like the other hummer feeders. The wasps have stayed away from it! The only reason I gave 4 stars is where the handle screws in could have been made better. It doesn't screw in very good. I have a feeling that won't last long.
Very simple to fill. Took a few days and the addition of some flowers to attract the hummers. Very simple to clean.
It is a pretty feeder, the hummingbirds use it. The feeder is practical in cost, you don't waste nectar filling it up. It is easy to open, (you don't have to unscrew the hook) easy to clean and refill. DOWNSIDE: It must be hung level, it does not do well in the wind; when hung on tree branches that are not level the slightest breeze causes the feeder to tilt spilling contents. Hummingbird food is supposed to be changed every 2-3 days especially in hot weather so this feeder is perfect for those types of conditions.
The feeder was received after 5 days with the package intact. Upon opening the cardboard the feeder was attached with ties and the hanger, which screws into the feeder holding the unit together and allows it to be hung, was missing. The ties were attached to the cardboard but no hanger, rendering the item useless. I called and chatted with Walmart.com. The purchase was made through a third party "Home Innovations". I agreed to have them email me within 24-48 hrs. They did email me and unfortunately another week has passed and I still have no resolution. I have emailed them pictures of the defective(?) Feeder, packing slip and the label on the box. This is the first, and hopefully the last time, I have had an issue with Walmart.com. It would seem to me that a quality control problem exists. Although Home Innovations may not be the manufacturer of this product, they are the reseller and should know if items they are selling are complete or not. Certainly i would think the person placing the item in the box would notice 2 empty ties on a disc feeder cardboard. The cardboard clearly indicates a hanger. I'm not happy and neither are my hummingbirds.
