The stand has 2 fans the I don't even think are powerful enough to cool the system, considering the stand draws it's power from the xbox whether the system is on or not. Not to mention you have to turn the thing on in order for it to charge the controllers. I have 2 nyko rechargeable batteries and this stand didn't even recharge them. Plus the unnecessary super bright LED's on the front that turn on with the fans and charging ports... I Find it very poor in terms of functionality and convenience.
I have an Xbox One and I was told you're not event supposed to stand them up. So I did my research and here is a little of what I found. http://kotaku.com/want-xbox-one-to-stand-up-microsoft-says-do-it-at-you-1355428166 . Not much of a stand if you're not event supposed to stand up your xbox.
First, I'll address the elephant in the room. THE XBOX ONE WAS NOT DESIGNED TO BE PLACED IN A VERTICAL POSITION!! Microsoft has never displayed the X1 to be placed vertical, encouraged it, and has even stated standing the console in a vertical position will void your warranty. After the Xbox 360 overheating fiasco I understand people want peace of mind when it comes to their new Xbox One. Well, I'll do my best to reassure you. Microsoft rushed the Xbox 360 to market. Of course the 360 was absolutely amazing, but due to the rush it had a bad cooling solution and used bad thermal paste. Also, keep in mind the initial components back in 2005 ran much hotter than they do today. Anyways, Microsoft lost TONS of money and consumer trust over that. So the LAST thing they would ever do is knowingly launch the Xbox One with overheating issues. All you have to do is use the basic "rules" to keep it cool. -Don't put it in one of those enclosed cabinets (especially the ones with a door) in those old-styled entertainment centers. And if you for whatever the reason feel like you NEED to, at least cut out the back portion of the cabinet -Do not place the power-brick next or on top of your Xbox One. It may have a tiny fan in it, but it still gets pretty warm. It also needs to be away from warms things. -Airflow is your best friend. HOWEVER, DO NOT have some kind of house/desk fan blowing air directly onto your console. I've heard of people doing this countless times, and they're only making things worse if they don't understand where the intake and exhaust vents are on their console. Keep in mind where the X1's exhaust air is blowing (diagonally right from the top) and give it sufficient space and you'll be perfectly fine. -Cleaning. Please, do NOT use canned air. You will end up blowing dust and dirt INTO your console, which obviously isn't good. The BEST way to clean any console, pc, or really any electronic is to get a specialized vacuum, because it sucks the dust AWAY. However, the average person doesn't own something like that. *The following portion ONLY applies to consoles, not the inside components of a PC or anything similar* You can use a regular vacuum cleaner's smaller extensions to clean the dust from your consoles vents. (Make sure your console is off and unplugged of course) It's much safer as it doesn't blow dust IN your console, plus it's free. -And finally... NEVER PLACE YOUR XBOX ONE IN A VERTICAL POSITION! lol Yeah, I know this is practically a book and that nobody will read it. But it'll be completely worth it if even one person reads this and doesn't buy this product. Take care! =)
