My 5 year-old used to watch me using my computer and say, "I wish I had a computer like that." She had a Barbie B-Bright laptop, but she was now ready for a more advanced toy laptop with a QWERTY keyboard. I sold the B-Bright and got her this one and it's just what she wanted. She pretends to go online and says things like "I'm downloading" and she has fun playing the educational games. Many of the games require reading, so younger children might need help, but after I explained how to play some of the games my daughter can play them without any help. She even has a couple of favorites that she learned to play on her own. The age range is listed as 5+, but the grade level suggested is 1 & 2nd grade up. There is a slot on the side for cards with bonus games. There are 3 additional Barbie cards with 3 games each ...and they are included! I'm so glad I don't have to run around looking for them and pay extra for these additional games. Also included is a Barbie mousepad, a Barbie mouse and a set of earbuds. The volume control and headphone outlet were a big plus for me. I had started to bring the B-Bright on an 3 hour bus trip but once I realized there was no way to control the volume, I decided against it. With this B-Smart, that won't be a problem next time. The earbuds are a little too big for my 5 year old, but she can use her child-size headphones instead. One thing that's not included is the AC adapter. I've seen it sold seperately, but if you want to use one you already have, it needs to be 6V. The design is very pretty and girly. The top is light pink with a silver ponytail profile Barbie logo above a dark pink floral pattern. At the edge is a pink jewel button that you press to open the lid. When the laptop is closed you can carry it with the fold-away handle on the back. It's a good portable toy computer and it's also good for use on a table or desk.
My daughter (4) got this for X-mas, she is still playing with it everyday almst 1 year later. It helps ALOT with spelling. She is learning to spell really well. The only thing I don't like is for the math, if the answer is double digit you have to enter it backwards. So its hard for the kids. Ex. Say the answer is 10, you would type in 0 then 1 Other than that it's a very good!
Please do not waste your money! The screen is tiny and the sound is distorted! Huge waste of money!!!!
The computer was defective when we received it and was unable to be used. This may be the last time I purchase any products from Walmart online.
