My whole family has been using Banana Boat spf50 for kids for many year. We never get a sunburn even exposed ourselves under the sun for hours. Couple years ago they switched the formula into harmful chemical free, which makes it even better. Feel safe to apply as much as we want while having fun in the hot weather. I have been buying this kids sunscreen since my son's were a year old and they are now 8 and 5. We love how this product works. My kids never get burned and it stays on for a very long time without ever needing to reapply it! I highly recommend this to the entire family! Even mom and dad use it! I have used this on my 2 boys since they were 6 months old. They are 8 and 9 now. I love it because they can get right back in water after applying. This stuff won't come off in water for sure. And you can put on face. It never has ran in their eyes. You do have to rub in really good or else they look like a very very white child but I don't care. They don't burn with it and don't break out and it stays put! We are out in sun a lot. I bet I buy 10 big bottles a year for the whole family. I usually use expensive sunblock as shishado for $36 and they sting my eyes badly, but with this sunblock, I pay less than 8 bucks with all the same sunblocking effect and without my eyes hurt.
We have used this for years for our kids. It stays on and it is really reliable. We only have to apply about every couple of hours...depending on play time.
I put this on my 5YO before she went out to play, she had no problem with it. Being sweet and helpful, she put some on my face, too. I DIDN'T go outside but just stayed in while she played. Somehow this product would seep into my eyes and burn. As the day went on I noticed a rash on my face. It was probably not visible to anyone else, but I could feel it. Plus my skin turned red as if I HAD been in the sun (I stayed indoors all day). The next morning my eyes were swollen nearly shut, as in the picture. The same thing happened when I used this product on my face last summer. Note though that it only had this reaction on my face, not on my arms or legs. I cannot use this product on myself anymore, although I can still use it on my daughter.
This is a very thick lotion and does leave a white thick residue that does not absorb well.
This is my six year old after a couple hours in the sun after applying this twice and allowing it to completely dry before going in the water.
This product has made me break out in contact dermatitis twice. The first time I was not 100% what caused my skins reaction. This time I applied the product to my shoulders neck and arms only. Everywhere I have applied this product has again broke out with contact dermatitis. It is miserable! I live in Florida and wear SPF daily...this is the only SPF I have used that has caused this issue.I will repurchase this product.
The only places that I put your sunscreen, are the only places where my 5 year old son was burnt today. I am SUPER upset about this. The rest of his body is completely normal. I have taken pictures and you can tell where I had applied the sunscreen. His shoulders and back of his shoulders are burnt, but in the middle it's completely fine. His stomach and back are completely fine. His ears at the top are burnt where I applied the sunscreen, along with his cheeks. My son was in the sun and water for 4 hours and I applied the sunscreen 4 times throughout this time, each time it dried before he got back in the water. The first time I applied it, it wasn't until 30 minutes later he was in the sun. I will check in the morning to see how bad it is and if he has blisters from this, I will NOT be a happy momma.
