Wow! It moves!!

The bike goes uphill well. The electric motor looks a little bit odd sticking out the left side, but this bike moves like a motorcycle. 18mph may not sound like much, but it produces a big grin as you go uphill without pedaling. No idea on battery life yet, only had the bike for 1 week. Wal-Mart (as of now) is not listing the 2nd battery pack as an available accessory (bummer). Frame is OK, components are fine quality. Bike is average/cheap/low-end, but the electric motor integration is nice and simple. If you are looking at a cannondale, this is not comparable. If however you are looking for a bike that you can commute long distances on, this is it. Ride until you are tired, and then let the bike take over. Bargain priced for the technology. Highly recommend.

Better than expected

What a great surprise to recieve a product that surpassed our expectations by a mile. Assembly of front wheel and handle bars was very easy, the back wheel, shifter and motor was installed at the factory. Mounted the handle bars, with the stem they mount into, reversed. This allows us to set upright when riding. My wife and I order two bikes and our son ordered two bikes for his family, and they all arrived in perfect condition. The engineering of these bikes is exceptional. We find that we ride them in the TAG (twist and go) mode and use the PAS ( pedal assist mode) as an on/off switch. The TAG mode allows the rider to apply partial or full power at any time. We use the TAG to level the hills for a great fun ride. We help by pedaling much more than I thought we might. The bicycle is very easy to pedal without power assist. Be sure to go from TAG mode from PAS mode when getting on or off the bike. The motor is powerful and if you accidentaly twist the throttle when you are not ready to ride, it can be painful. A great product at a great price. chuck

Just got this women's bike yesterday and so far I am loving it! Seems well made, comfortable and basically, does what I've expected of it. What a wonderful experience to be able to enjoy the exercise and freedom of riding a bicycle again but without the hard work of getting up those hills! It's very easy to learn and so simple to keep charged. If nothing changes soon, I am completely happy with this purchase! At age 54, I'm feeling like a kid again. This bike is just plain fun!

Very well made Ebike

Let start off with a little background information. I've been riding and working on bicycles all of my life for recreation. Three years ago I started to get into motorizing bicycles as a hobby since the hills here in New Hampshire make long-distance rides very tiring unless you're a Lance Armstrong type of person. The only problem with a motorized bike is that my family or girlfriend are too intimidated by it. They also complain whenever they go on rides with me because they can't keep up even when I'm on my normal non-motorized mountain bike. Over the winter I had been researching all types of Ebike conversion kits and fully assembled bikes. After pouring through tons of reviews and technical specs I found the Ezip Trailz to be not only the most affordable but also very reliable. While it may not utilize the best battery technology or the highest powered motor and controller these pieces are upgradeable if you feel the need for better range and speed. Here are my impressions of the bike so far. Out of the box the bike was in great condition. It had absolutely no scratches and everything was well lubricated and tightly assembled from the factory. It came with adequately detailed assembly instructions and the owners manual gives you all the information on how to maintain and adjust every part of the bike. I've assembled many bikes and this one went together very easily and with almost no need for adjustment to the brakes or shifter. According to the manual the top speed of this bike should be 15MPH under electrical power alone however I haven't installed a speedometer to actually see if thats true yet. The frame and all of the components look incredibly durable and oversized to hold the extra weight and take the stress of higher sustained speed. The brakes and pads look to be good quality and stop the bike with ease. The front brake lever has a safety switch that automatically turns the motor off when squeezed for safety and to avoid damaging the electric drive. The battery/cargo rack is very sturdy and incorporates a keyed lock to secure the battery pack to the bike to prevent theft. Expect a 6-8hr charge time. Batteries can be charged while on the bike. I have not had enough time to test the range of the battery pack but I plan on doing that once I get a secondary battery from Currie so I don't get stuck pedaling all the way back. The seat is very comfortable and the post is long allowing for a lot of height adjustment with the quick release. The throttle has a button on it so you can turn the throttle off at any time for when you want to pedal without assist without turning the whole system off. This bike also comes with negative treaded street tires to give you lower rolling resistance and therefore a smoother ride with more range and less effort. The only thing the bike is missing that should have been easy to incorporate is a couple of water bottle mounting studs. However with the amount of assist this bicycle offers you probably won't even work up a sweat. With the single included battery pack this bike is pretty heavy so anybody who has to store it in a second floor apartment would either have to remove the pack before they took it up stairs or be very strong and careful. This is such a nice bike I would have no hesitation of using it myself for travel or fun even with all it's pink accents. This thing is really a great deal. I can't say enough about it. Highly recommended!

I LOVE My Electric Bike <3

I love my bike. I was "iffy" because it was not as expensive as some of the others that I was researching. But, I knew if I didn't like it, Walmart was a safe place to buy it, because they always take things back. I have had my bike for about a week now. IT IS AWESOME! The only problem I had is when you hit a really large bump, the battery can come out of place a little. You may think "oh - my battery is dead", but it isn't. You just need to push it down again. BEWARE: this is not a lightweight bike, but I knew that getting into it. It isn't a problem unless you live up some stairs and want to bring it inside. A couple of days after I got it, I tried to run the battery out. I stayed on it for as long as I could and still did not run the battery out completely. Yesterday, I rode it 4 miles with normal peddling to work. I worked for a 12 hour shift - did not charge my battery - got back on my back and went 4 miles home. The battery still had enough "juice" to get me home with normal peddling. All-in-all: GREAT BIKE! I added a basket to the front and back, so now I can carry my groceries.

Good Starter Electric Bike

If your looking into exploring the world of electric bicycles this is a great place to start. The cost of $350 is much cheaper than other electric bicycles. Try this bike out before spending 2,000 on some of the higher end bikes. Good Things about the bike. ***Cheap at $348. I do not think you can find a cheaper model. ***Works as advertised. Does not appear to over promise. Battery range of 15 miles on the flat with pedaling seems about right. ***Assembled by Wal-Mart at the store. We bought it from their web site. The local store assembled the bike. ***Uses standard electric bike components. Currie electrical components are used. This is where you can buy extra or replacement batteries. You can google their web site for additional information. ***Did fit on our Yakima rack. Check carefully it might not fit on your rack. It did not fit our Thule rack. ***The Battery Pack locks and is also easily removed. It come with four keys in case you buy an extra battery pack. Concerns. ***Heavy battery pack at 15.5 lbs. This makes the bike top heavy. For older riders or weaker riders the womens model is probably a better purchase since it makes getting on and off the bike much easier than a men's bike. With two battery packs the bicycle would be more like a motorcycle. ***Standard bicycle panniers did not fit. This negates one of the advantages of an electric bike. The ability to haul lots of stuff. Check to see if yours will fit. ***Heavy bike plus heavy battery equals you don't want to run out of power!! The bike will definitely be difficult to pedal home particularly if you encounter any hills. Negatives. ***It has motor only or pedal assist mode. It does not have pedal torque mode which is more natural for bicyclists. In pedal torque mode you pedal and the electric motor supplies power based on your pedaling. That is more natural for people that like bicycling. ***Model is shown as TrailZ, but bike tires are really suited only for pavement. ***Due to weight if you have really steep roads to climb you might have to walk the bike depending on your fitness level and weight. On the hill to our house about a 35% slope caused me and the bike to power out!! ***Recharge times for the lead battery are long. The label says 6-8 hours for a full recharge. That appears to be about right. If you live on flat ground this is a wonderful bike to own. It would be a great commuting bike. For camping and traveling around the bike is heavy and the long recharge times make it a little more difficult for these purposes. I would definitely buy one of these bikes. The second bike will probably be a different model. We will go ahead and upgrade to one of the more expensive bikes. But this gave us a great idea of the advantages and disadvantages of an electric bike.

Have to say best bang for your buck. I take my kids to school that is 5 blocks away, then ride to work that is 2-3 miles away. I would safely say I get to both destinations in the same amount of time if I drove it. exercise, fresh air, easy way to run quick errands. The lights on the throttle make no sense, and yes the bike is heavy. But never suffer from traffic lights or road rage.

As long as you don't expect this bike to be an electric powered mini-bike - this model should meet your every expectation. This is an electric ASSIST bike, designed to have a bit of help getting up hills, but you'll be expected to pull your weight everywhere else.

The bike works well in all terrians. We have not pushed the batteries to their limit but what riding we have done they have held up well. The bike has the capacity to add an additional battery should it be needed. I feel like the bikes are a good buy at the price they were sold at. Only down side, they are a little heavy.

I received the bike in good shape the BIG problem was that the battery did not charge. I charger it over night and the bike went dead halfway down the street. I tried again to charge the battery and again it failed. I was very disappointed. The front tire is very close to the pedal so your foot can hit the front wheel. Wal-Mart was great about taking the bike back no questions asked. It would have been a great value if the battery would have charged.
