Quality feel. Very sharp. Handle material is very high quality. Not plastic.
The knife set is exceptionally nice and I am extremely happy with it and would recommend it to others. The only drawback is that the set doesn't come with a four inch paring knife as listed. Instead it comes with an additional five inch steak knife in it's place. However knowing that I would still recommend the knives to others. Better Homes and Gardens should do something to address that situation.
The individual knives for this brand were once available from Walmart, but they discontinued the individual knives. I lost the 8" slicer during a move and was unable to locate another one. It was a great knife, it was very sharp and stayed sharp for awhile, just kept it honed. So I noticed it was part of this set. I also noticed there were steak knives in this set along with a knife block. I was looking for some good quality steak knives with bolsters and these fit the bill so I bought the set basically for the 8" slicer, steak knives and knife block. All of the knives are razor sharp right out of the box. The steel is German made, but the knives were assembled in Brazil and the quality is actually better than some knives which cost more each than the whole set costs! the ergonomic handles are very nicely finished and I have many expensive name brand knives with which to compare. These are finished as nicely as any of my high end knives. It's better than the finish on some of my more expensive knives. The knives cut real nice and if they are the same quality as the individual 8" cutter that I once had, these will do very nicely for a long while. I believe these are made out of EN 1.4116 German steel aka X50CrMoV15, which is fairly standard for many European knives. A decent steel for kitchen knives, not so hard as to be chippy, but hard enough to retain a good edge for routine cutting tasks. Easy to hone and touch up. Usually hardened between 54 to 58 Rockwell. Mostly around 58 for high end brands. With a decent heat treat, this steel will perform very well in the kitchen. Do not put the knives in the dishwasher, that is one of the quickest ways to ruin the edge. This is a nicer set for the price than most economy brands I have used in the past. The forged steel is superior in my experience when compared to those brands. A bit more money, but worth it. The block is attractive, but functional, not a huge footprint. The honing steel will work, though I have a fine ceramic rod hone which I like better than the sterl hones. Beside the 8" slicer and steel hone, my set also came with a 8" chef knife, 7" Santoku knife with grantons, a 4" pairing knife, (6) 5" steak knives, a 6" utility knife and a pair of kitchen shears. The shears look serviceable, good for light duty tasks requiring shears. In conclusion, this is a very decent set of knives and of sufficient quality for the price if you must be a knife set. If taken care of these will last many years.
Let me stat by saying I had bought a Chef's knife a while ago and was so happy with it that after 2 years I decided to go with the whole set and I cant be more happy. The only thing I wish this set included was a bread knife but other then that I am satisfied customer the knifes are so sharp that they slice through fresh carrots like butter.
Awesome excellent kitchen set exactly what I need after years of searching, wish they have a bread knife with it or even a separate buy I would purchase in a second, however it made me start looking and shopping more into BHG product, thank you for and amazing Efficient awesome product:))
I was hoping, when I ordered this set, that it would meet my expectations and I was pleasantly surprised that it surpassed my expectations. One thing I would have done different with this set and that's to not make the steak knives so needle point sharp, maybe just a tiny bit rounded on the tip. Be careful inserting the knives back in the block as you might stab the wood block and ruin it. I insert them all back real slow. These knives are extremely razor sharp so be real careful there too.

This easy to store set is better than expected. The reasonable cost makes them a great choice for daily use.
Really great set of knives. Only down side is if you have a clumbsy moment.Cause U gonna bleed these things R sharp.
I love these knives! Had the eight inch butcher knife for years. These still matched. Sharp edge, formidable weight and good balance. Compete with much more expensive chef knives. Note: I am picky AF about stuff. These are great knives.
