Im not the best cook, and I have been craving gingerbread for awhile, so I decided to make a cake with cream cheese frosting, and it was very delicious. I love how simple the directions are..
I like this stuff, the ginger flavor isn't weak like some others are. My experience has been that if I beat it like crazy I get a nice dense cake. When I've beat it less it came out fluffier looking, and visibly higher in the pan, but the consistency felt hard and spongy in my mouth. I use a round 9" glass pan, and butter it well before pouring the batter in, although it doesn't say to grease the pan in the directions. And I leave it in a full 38 minutes. 350 degrees is not as hot as some cakes cook at so I guess it needs more time. You can eat it plain - it's very flavorful. But you can upgrade it simply with powdered sugar or a cream cheese frosting. I usually just butter the top; it's cheap, easy, delicious, and I always have some in the fridge. But I think next time around I'm going with the Reddi Whip.
So happy to get two of these easy to prepare boxes of gingerbread cake mix for my pantry. As fall is officially now here, I look forward to some warm gingerbread out of the with whipped cream on top! Yum!
Besides being delicious it is easy and quick to make. Soooo good with vanilla ice-cream or whipped cream, yummmm! I am handicapped so I always keep a box or two handy in case I have unexpected company. Seems like most people like "ginger bread". If I don't have ice-cream or whipped cream I sprinkle powdered sugar over the top and it's a winner!
Obviously nothing from a box can compare to homemade from scratch. But sometimes at Christmas there's just not enough time. So this mix was a big help to me. I am really glad this product is available!
i make this on occasion-- year round. i like to use canned pears in juice [not sugar water] which i cube..then add the juice from the can into the mix instead of the water. a bit of unsweetened applesauce if you need a bit more moisture--the egg-- stir and bake. sugar free cool whip or a scoop of ice cream on still warm cake is a treat. i'm hoping this will eventually be offered sugar free and / or gluten free.
Still the best tasting mix on the market. As a kid I loved coming home from school and smell this cooking and it still has the same great spicy flavor today.
I bought these to make gingerbread men, i followed the directions on back for the cookies . when done tge dough was not right for rolling so i added a tiny bit of flour, but didn't matter. i dumped it in plastic wrap and put it in tge refrigerator until next day, firmer but still too soft. i just balled them up, rolled them in sugar and baked, i also drizzled white chocolate over the top. make my own dough next time
A total fail, does not taste like gingerbread, the instructions make a sloppy mixture, takes fierce tobaje, tastes like I don't even know what... yucky 😐
I followed the directions on th box precisely. It was an extremely thin liquid and the smell was odd. I tried to bake it but it would not get done. It had a horrible smell. I checked it at the time on the box and it was still extremely wet. I left it in for an hour and20 minutes total and it was still jiggly and wet on the top. It was not consumable.
