These bookends are beautiful and functional. The arrived nicely packaged to prevent damage. They have enough weight to hold most books in place. We are very pleased with this purchase and thing you will be as well.
Bookends are great gifts for academics and this pair was no exception. They are very nice bookends, solid marble with a perfectly smooth finish. They are heavy (listed as 10 lbs, and while I did not put them on the scale I believe it) and I suspect the hold books well, but I gave them as a gift so don't know first hand. The recipient of the gift was truly delighted! I thought the recipient would use them in his office, but he told me he liked them so much he wanted to use/display them at home in his living room instead. I have purchased several sets of bookends from this site and have been very pleased with them all so far.
We bought these beautiful book-ends for our boss's office. Before the book-ends, everytime he pulled a book out he wanted to use, the remaining books slipped down or fell over. They are beautiful, and we got lucky that they were on sale [...] which suprised me at the time I placed the order. Could of been a little bigger (because he has some big books), but still very happy with purchase.
Purchased 8 of these for our ""Rock Solid Award"" at work and had an engraved plaque added each time someone was chosen. It fits the theme and everyone loves them - thanks!~
I am using these bookends for a variety of small to large business books. The bookends have a tendency to slide. They are a nice accent if not all that practical.
Having read the other reviews about them not looking like the ones pictured what I got was close to what I expected. Clearly the ones pictured where the ""pick of the litter"" and most of what is sent are the runts. But, I'm ok with that. They look great in the bookcase and do what they were designed to do.
I actually weighed these and they weigh 3 lbs. each. Not heavy enough for my use. They are different and attractive but not much good if they don't keep your books from falling over.
The drawback with the set we received is that each of them has very visible dirty-looking imperfections on the outer (public) surfaces. The color is as pictured in the listing, but these dark, spotty irregularities look like something you want to wipe off. I'm too lazy to return them but am disappointed at this price.
The bookends I received look good from a distance, just like the ones in the photo. However, up close they look fake. They also feel fake to the touch.
The bookends I received were almost all one color and did not look like the ones in the photo. I was extremely disappointed as these were a Father's Day gift for my husband's new office. The corners on one of them were chipped and the box they came in was smashed so I had to buy a new box to wrap them in.
