We have a large yard with a wooded area in the back. I previous purchased a Stihl gas grass trimmer - based on a recommendation from CR magazine. After using it only a few times I found it too difficult to start and the vibration from using it made my hands go numb. After trying my parents Weed Hog I was surprise how easy it was to operate and to be able to edge with. I still need to occasionally use my gas trimmer (with the help of someone starting it for me) due to the size of my yard. But glad that I purchase the Weed Hog for frequent trimming around the house area. The only problem I had was that the box was delivered extremely damaged - not sure if this was a Walmart problem or Fed Ex
I'm a 65 yr old woman and I found this to be great for me. Easy and light. Had never used a weed eater before but was so easy. Love it!
I wanted to leave a review, because the ppl reviews was what made me chose this product, so I guess I could help someone else. This is a very powerful trimmer, I don't have to pass over and over the same place to get the job done. FYI wear long thick pants and shoes when you use it, I didn't wear the proper clothing and I hurt my legs... so you can imagine that it is doing the job.
I am pretty sure this is the same model of Black & Decker weed eater I bought almost 20 years ago. Through constant abuse, left in the rain and out in the hot sun, three kids learning how to weed eat and beating it to death, years of cutting down field tall grass ..... etc. just this morning it finally died on me ( after 20 YEARS ). I am on my way right now to buy this one. I would highly recommend anything with the Black & Decker name on it.
I've only used a couple times so far, but it worked great. Yard looks wonderful. I love the SINGLE line instead of dual line. Bought a dual Sears Craftsman last year, hate it. Hubby said go back to a single line. So I had to change brands. I love B&D products. So it's working really well.
for the price, which after purchasing online, was even less at checkout (I love WalMart) this is a great yardwork addition....quiet, tons of power, and ultra light...it will take me a while to get used to the cutting angles...much diff than my 20 yr old one..
I bought this for my 77 year old mother after reading the outstanding reviews on the performance, and also how lightweight it is. She LOVES it and told me to be sure I gave it 5 stars!!! She is still healthy as can be and loves to do her own grass and loves this trimmer more than any one she has ever had. It's very well built, sturdy (not cheap feeling) and so light she can use it with no problems. We both absolutely recommend this for anyone! Being able to send it to the store for her to pick up since she lives 2 hours away was also a big plus.
This weed eater was very short, causing me to have to bend over. My back was hurting when I finished. I am a 5'7 female. It was light weight, but seemed really cheap. I am taking it back and get a better model. My last B&D Grass Hog was amazing, not this one.
This was a site to store purchase. When I picked this up at the store, I was a bit upset at the condition the box was in. The box was crushed and several holes were punched into the box. When I opened the box, there was some damage to the trimmer. Mostly scratches and nicks, nothing that would impair the use of the trimmer. This is the third site to store purchase I have made , with issues on every order. I would not recomend any purchases made this way.
I bought this item last week, used it for about an hour, and it was BROKEN. The motor kept running, But the mechanism that feeds the string lost 2 pieces. IT is made of PLASTIC,,,, Why of course it will break. I don't just mean break, I mean 2 pieces cannot be repaired. The 2 pieces BROKE of. It went back the next day. THANK YOU Walmart, Just one question they asked during the return procedure. What is wrong?????? I am so impressed with Walmart, they are so accommodating!!!!! Thank You. I don't blame Walmart, I BLAME the company for making a cheaply made product. :(:(:(:(:(. Joannie :)
