I already had 3 batteries from other tools so this was just one more for the collection. One word of caution. Make sure the Allen screws are tight before your first use. I had the chain come off right away because they weren't tight. Simple fix and all is well.
I used the twenty volt lithium-ion battery and charger that goes to my weed trimmer and it saved money. Bare tool means that this pole saw does not come with the battery or charger. The Black & Decker LPP120 8 inch pole saw worked great! I did not run out of battery. It is lite. I am a senior and am very pleased with low vibration and the ease of using this saw. A small oil bottle came with it and it fits on the sheath. I am reminded to oil it and it is handy. Also, it came with a tool to tighten the chain.
I have been using it for six months on my 5 acres. I have two chainsaws but this is useful to reach branches and thick brambles. Does NOT include a battery but i had two that came with B and D weedeater. Can cut quite a few branchs with a single charge. Get a quality chain sharpener to keep it in top shape.
I already had the battery from my B&D drill, which is interchangeable with this pole saw as well as my B&D hedge trimmer, so there was no need to pay more for the pole saw that included the battery. I used the saw to trim a tall maple tree. I still had to get on a step ladder to reach the tallest branches, but it worked fine. I'm a 66-year-old woman and didn't quite have the strength to hold the saw steady enough to cut precisely where I wanted to, but I got close enough and am happy with this product.
Works as designed. Easily cuts three inch branches. When the extender is attached, it is pretty top heavy and requires strength to keep aloft when a branch is cut through. Love the fact that I can use the battery in all three of my other B&D tools. Did all my clean up without a recharge.
A little over priced, I was skeptical about how good it would work and how long it would last on a single battery charge. Well, if you know how to cut with a chain saw, it is very easy to use and cuts very quickly and without the noise of a chain saw. Just do not forget to make the under cut on larger limbs as this cuts down on your cutting time, not to mention prevents damage to your pole saw when done properly. Keep the chain oiled and it works smooth and flawlessly. As far as the battery time, it was better than expected, I cut for at least 90 minutes before the battery needed to be recharged and before I knew it, there was a pile of limbs taller than my truck in the yard. Black and Decker is making a come back with power tools this time around. I also have a drill that uses the same battery. ( very good also )
I now have the 20V hedge trimmers that were exceptional trimming my out of control Pampas Grass. A weed eater that has proven reliable and durable. Recently a pole saw that I am happy with so far and a Blower that does a great job on my patio and deck, but not so good on my mower. Overall I am very happy with these products. Most importantly, no gas/oil mixture, no spark plugs and very little hassle
My husband really likes this pole saw. He uses it at the farm. The battery last a long time. He uses it to cut the limbs off of the trees. Cuts right through with no binding. Has a very long reach. Is easy on the arms. Not heavy for reaching high up. Has had no trouble with it so far.
Cuts nicely and reach is good. A little heavy especially if standing on a ladder, must be careful. Manual adding of bar chain oil is not that big of a deal.
Great product, but terrible seller. Delayed return shipping, then did not refund sales tax with original purchase price.
