My favorite breakfast now as we head toward winter. Reminds me of the hot Ralston we'd sometimes have when I was a kid back i the 1950's. Great to find hot cereal without additives, just like it used to be in the old days before they invented all that ... additive stuff.
Great! I'm used to using the 5-grain rolled cereal to make high-fiber cookies for colon health. Couldn't find it online in the cover-a9 frenzy, so I tried this. Completely different texture, but the result is delicious and the colon-healthy effect is all there! Great flavor.
It's perfect for making quick breads super nutritious, delicious, and not for only cereal.
I use this product every day (for about 3 years). I place about teaspoon along with some Quinoa Flakes for more protein, (different vendor) , some amaranth, rolled rye and whole barley; sometimes whole oats, in a "food jar" ----a type of thermos - and let it "cook" with bottled, freshly boiled water, with the lid on when I take my shower, etc. By the time it's done, I'm ready to eat it with some sea salt--sometimes raisins; sometimes with plant milk. Never upsets my gut. The food jar does all the work and you can do other things; the cereal is quietly cooking. I never add sugar. Keeps me full and regular...It's high fiber. I've traveled with this product, a very small kettle (with European plug adaptors) the food jar locally and overseas along with a plastic spoon for several years and it solves the inevitable dilemma: what to eat as a vegetarian but nutritious. I've eaten this product even during a recent flood and was the only person in the hotel who ate well, avoiding the cheap, dreadful do-nuts served. It's high quality, good protein and very inexpensive per meal. It does not upset my gut even when I have a cycling race; something I cannot say for other foods. Great, clean product--hard to find locally. Pre-package in Baggies, along with salt for a quick, nutritious meal--won't take up too much space as you travel.
This is very tasty. I make it with 1/2 cup almond milk and 1/4 cup water. And during the summer months I've been cutting up fresh peaches and throwing in some blueberries along with cinnamon and cardamom. Extremely tasty and nice change from oatmeal in the mornings.
The 6 grain got cereal is perfect for my family. We are not fans of the Steel Cut Oats and this has none. Love all the different ancient grains. Great on its own, but better with oats and oat fiber.
I love all the Bob's Red Mill hot cereals. I was so happy to discover that they are available on the Bob's Red Mill website at a reasonable price. I had found it hard to locate many of them including the 6 grains in my local supermarkets. I would recommend all of the hot cereals as a healthy and filling breakfast choice.
I originally was able to buy this at a local store, but then the area distributor dropped it from his "offerings". I tried, I think it was, the 5 grain and the 7 and didn't like them. I so liked the 6 grain, that I now have to mail order it even though the shipping costs me as much as the cereal! Our supermarket carries a wide selection of BRM's, but not the 6 Grain.
I really love this cereal. Super satisfying with added berries. I have made the muffin recipe on the back of the package as well and they were great for mornings when there is not as much time to seat down for a quick meal.
Fantastic!!! Healthy and delicious. Cooks up quickly while you make tea or perk coffee. Add raisins during the last few minutes of cooking.
