this cereal is easy to prepare, about 15 minutes. It is creamy and great with a little maple syrup. The added benefit is that it is very nutritious.
I say this because I have used microwave style oatmeal practically everyday for years. Quick oats, the 1 minute kind are not very good to me. But Old Fashioned are always very good, a good consistency, tasty and fulfilling and only take about 2 1/2 min in the bowl in the microwave w very easy cleanup. These are microwavable, but didn't work well for me. It seemed to always need more water, came out hard like concrete. So I went to the stovetop method, and for a bachelor like me, kind of a hassle. It means you have to clean a pot and wait longer. But unlike steel cut, these only take 10 minutes, that's half the time. But I needed an extra cup of water and even still the oatmeal was extremely thick and can get clumpy fast. So it takes some care and aftercare to prepare these Scottish Oats, but I was determined. After striking out twice, I loved the results from the stovetop today, and will have to wash a bowel, a pot and a serving utensil, but being retired I have the time. Quite tasty in the end!
Very filling and healthy. I serve it with milk and honey and my kids love it.
This is a good hardy oatmeal. Very filling.
This item is not available in my local Walmart. How simple to be able to order it on Walmart.com and have it delivered right to my home!
I previously used rolled oats and then tried Steel Cut. This form of Oatmeal is smoother and I usually have it with unsweetend apple sauce. A very satisfying way to start the day.
I wanted steel cut oatmeal, but got this finely cut type of oatmeal. I really do not know how to use this product! It does seem to be a high quality product, just not what I wanted. The seller should have made this clear. Inform the consumer a little better as to the difference between stone cut and Scottish oatmeal.
