i bought quite a few bags of this and had it delivered. at the time (3 months ago) walmart had a reasonable price on it. Just under $3 but out of nowhere the price jumped to nearly double. Maybe i triggered it when i ordered 6 bags. luckily my local better grocer sells this at $2.99 and i only buy it there now. Goes to show that the big W is not always the best lower price!
Reconstitute with mushroom or vegetable stock and add whatever herbs and spices you like. I add coriander, nutmeg, black pepper, cayenne and sage to mimic breakfast sausage, or Italian seasoning to mimic ground beef. Affordable vegetable based protein.
Really love this product! Made a big pot of chili (little goes a long ways). Plan on ordering again for sure!! I have quite a few more ideas for this product (TVP).
THE BEST COST EFFECTIVE WAY TO CUT DOWN MEAN AND GET PROTIEN
I love this brand of TVP and use it in all kinds of vegan recipes. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I personally like this better then Butlers Soy Curls. They are smaller and don't have a filmy after taste. Soak them a few minutes in water and then cook them up. I use them in all kinds of recipes, pasta stuff, stir fry etc.
Excellent Product that can be added to other foods to boost protein. I add some boiling water to about 1/8 cup and then microwave for 20 seconds. It looks like cooked cereal at that time. I then add it to my dry cereal to add more protein to it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Added a 75%-100% ratio TVP to each pound of hamburger...fried meat to about 1/2 way done, drained that grease off, added re-hydrated TVP to pan and continued to fry to done...drained any excess grease. Continue prep as always. Great in homemade BBQ, taco meat, chili, etc. No-one says a word and it is all eaten. No waste.
This was a great price and it tastes great! I used taco seasoning and beans to make some delicious tacos.
Makes great taco meat in minutes. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
