We were both born into Christian families in the UK and showed a great interest in music, poetry and spiritual things early in life. In 1947 Rev David B. Owen married me, and after our first two sons were born we came to the USA by invitation from several Ministers who had visited the Church in Newport Wales. Where David was the Pastor. Two more boys were born in Pennsylvania and today; all four are married and serving the Lord. Three of them have Ministerial credentials, as do their parents Poetry was something I appreciated but did not start to write any until 1943, Howard Carter (Chairman of the Assemblies of God 1940 in the UK) asked me to put the music to some of his poems, which I did, and they were published in the Keystone Chorus Book (now obsolete). This inspired me to add to some of his verses and then to write my own compositions. David wrote a couple of hymns and a few other poems to which his name is added in this book. There are two poems, "Roses" and "The Button Box" for which I received the Editor's Choice Awards, beautiful crystal trophies engraved "For outstanding achievement in poetry" from The International Society of Poets, 2006, and 2007. David went to be with the Lord on New Year's Day 2006. After which I wrote the poems "Bereaved" and "Empathy." Someone recently described my Poetry as spiritual, astute and humorous I think that is pretty accurate. I hope you will be blest and will enjoy reading all of them.
