I bought a Brita Lake filter at Costco a little over a month ago, and it's the best impulse purchase I've made in years. Tap water here in Phoenix is safe, but let's be honest, it tastes a little strange. I cannot express how much I wish every Brita pitcher came with an auto fill lid. Every one I have use with a flip up or removable lid just felt cheap and ended up breaking.
I just bought this pitcher to replace an older Brita pitcher that has started regularly spilling water on the counter. While I like this pitcher and the autofill feature, I wonder whether the company has done any studies about the exposure to germs. With the top of the autofill lid exposed to the air in the refrigerator, any germs floating in the air could land on the autofill lid and get washed into the pitcher when you fill it.

The auto-fill cap is genius and takes away perhaps the only inconvenient part of filling up your pitcher (pulling the lever). Also on my old pitcher, a piece of the plastic lever broke from normal use. This completely prevents that, and it looks cool as you're filling it. 1)The reminder feature on this pitcher doesn’t really work. I’ve signed up for online reminders on the Brita website. We’ll see if that works for us. 2)You have to wait for all of the tap water to go through the filter before using it. The flip lid assembly is HORRIBLE design. Unable to get it re-assembled.
