Our master bathroom was built in 84 with only an overhead light fixture and no fan. After owning this house for 8 years, today I summoned the courage to replace our light with this NuTone fan light combo. After purchasing this unit and the wall vent kit at the local Home Depot, I set forth on our adventure. First thing I noticed is that our NuTone unit came without any install instructions. I figure that's okay since instructions aren't for me anyways, they are for people who can't figure it out themselves or who need the 800 number to call for help. I knew going into this that it would be a complete pain to complete the install because the location is on the opposite side of the house from the attic entry and I would have to crawl across the vaulted ceiling and into an unexplored area above the master bath. I also needed to bust out the Sawzall and a few Wrecker blades to cut through the stucco wall for the external vent, but i would have had to do that with any other fan as well. After a few hours of sweating profusely and a great deal of profanity, I have a great looking fan and light in the bathroom and it is much less smelly in there after dropping the Browns off at the Super Bowl. Everyone is happy with it. It is quiet and the lighting in the bath is perfect since I used one of the Phillips L-Prize LED bulbs and it fit perfect. I see a lot of complaints on here about the CFLs not fitting but you guys should seriously consider no longer using them anyways. They contain enough mercury to be mildly hazardous to your family if broken and not cleaned up properly, it's true you can look it up on Snopes. Besides they are so 20th century, LED lights are better color temperature, brighter, and more efficient than those CFLs you have been buying from China. Anyways, I step off this soapbox after mentioning that this unit is well worth the money we paid for it.
One of the great features of having an effective exhaust fan it getting rid of moister in the air that if left on surfaces will cause water damage. NuTone's 763RLN very effective at addressing this concern. Of course its' powerful suction and circulation also quickly eliminates bad smells as well. I would strongly recommend this exhaust fan!!!
We are using this unit in our newly constructed laundry room area. The light is perfect for this size room and the exhaust fan is so quiet I forget that it is on. It was intended to exhaust the moisture from hanging clothes on a line and moisture from the washing machine. Works great!
We built a home and put this product knowing it would work wonderful. not a problem with any issues. I would recommend it to any one and a person can't even tell it's there, very quiet!!!!!
Fan is quiet and I like the built in light. I recommend this to friends.
Quiet, installation relatively easy. One problem was the bolt to hold lamp housing in place was to long, had to disassemble to cut it down. A little aggravating, as at that point I was almost finished. Someone with less mechanical aptitude and tools may have returned it. Overall it does what we wanted it to do. It's quiet and it works well in a very small 2nd bath. Would recommend, but they need to check that bolt situation. May have worked with a standard bulb, but I wanted LED.
This product does not leave enough room for an average light bulb and definitely not enough for a CFL bulb. Otherwise, it has been working very well.
I had to replace the older model and this seems to fit perfectly. However, the unit makes a loud humming noise, if I leave the fan running for a long time. The noise is not disturbing, but it is certainly louder than when I first turned it on.
This fan replaced one of two similar units that were about 10 years old. The one unit had gotten very noisy and was replaced with this basically identical new one. An easy, direct swap-out. Initially the new unit was much quieter than the remaining 10 year old unit, but within a couple of months it started to get much noisier. At this point in time it is as noisy or noisier than the old one. This is an inexpensive venting fan, but I did expect it to run quieter for a longer period of time, as the older ones had.
My bathroom is only approx. 8x5 and this model doesn't do really anything. We needed a lighted model which it does light up the room good but that is about it. If we would have purchased the next lighted model it would have taken up half of my ceiling which would have looked stupid. NOT HAPPY!
