The Bulldog Hardware Carriage Bolt is used for heavy duty fastening in softer material such as wood. The smooth round head is ideal for furniture, play equipment & fencing. The square shoulder will penetrate the wood when the bolt is tightened to eliminate the bolt from turning. Use a standard wrench or socket tool to secure the nut and bolt in a pre-drilled hole. A washer (sold separately) is commonly used between the nut and wood. These carriage bolts are made of a steel construction for lasting strength and durability. They have a zinc plated finish which is ideal for relatively dry locations, interior applications and provides a moderate level of corrosion resistance.
