You have not experienced the best viewing from your HDTV until you have watched a blu ray disc. If your are hesitant because you think it "doesnt make a difference", you are wrong. The image shown is far superior to DVD, and as Howard Hughes said, "Its the wave of the future".
The blu ray transfer was very good. Picture and sound. Made a great addition to my McQueen collection. The Great Escape was in my opinion his best performance. Just saying
This movie is a classic. One of the best cop movies that has a ring of reality to it. And, of course, the first of all future real-feel car chase scenes in movies. Watching the car chase through the streets of San Fransisco on a big-screen TV really makes you feel like you're in the car. Blu-ray definitely helped both the picture and the sound for this movie (although it is still just 2.0 stereo and not DTS or 5.1, which is disappointing). But it's a cheap price for a great movie.
Item arrived on time and as promised.
Wal-mart provides the movie storyline. As a result, I see no point in repeating it. I gave five stars for McQueen's acting; McQueen's documentary (which was very good); and, one of cinemas most memorable car chases. McQueen's facial expressions and eyes lit up the screen. McQueens's Mustang pursuit of a Dodge Charger through the streets of San Francisco fifty years ago is stuff of legend. Now, the unpleasant: (1) The Blu-ray case advertised 2.4:1 aspect ratio. My disk was full screen, not wide screen. (2) The picture quality was not Blu-ray grade. (3) Many scenes were overly dark. And, (4) the story was hard to follow. However, the movie is still worthy because of Steve McQueen's great screen presence. There may never be another like him.
i was fortunate enough to see this picture on the `big screen' and i had a better view on my computer than when i was in the theater! i hope that they continue to produce the `oler' films so that we can continue to bring back pleasant memories...
Good movie not to long was interesting to watch a movie where no cell phone in it. Made you realize how much we depend on cell phone. Bought movie because of the mustang that was shown in Blue Blood. I had never heard of this movie. I enjoyed.
This movie is still a good movie but the video and audio quality not good considering its supposed to be Blu-ray with the latest innovations attached to it. Video quality is ok but the audio definitely not good if you want the Home Theater sound unless you're happy with 2.0 tracks.
Nothing on the two disks and a nightmare at Walmart at the return desk. No more for me...........
Would warn everyone, this remake to the Blu Ray format caused major problem with my 3 different high end blu ray players. Returned to my local Walmart which decided that even though they were not suppose to give a refund for an open DVD they would return my money with the exception of tax and shipping.... Never could get to play !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will never purchase a DVD from Walmart again ! If I didn't know better I would think this was a bootleg copy. Real junk........ Seems there may have been some quality control issues. Can you tell.....I'm very unhappy
