This desk arrived on schedule and the pick up process was simple. It is a very dark chocolate color. No hint of cherry as indicated. It was easy to put together, it is solid and the hardware if very nice. It will easily fit in w/ any decor. Most importantly, it hides the mess and has great organizational space. I am using it in my kids' computer room and they really love it! They are teens so I've created a more mature space for them to work. I would highly recommend this product.
We love the desk, hutch and lateral file we ordered. We were looking for something affordable but attractive and this is DEFINITELY what we got in this product! My husband and I just got married and we moved into his home. It is a very "boy meets girl" situation we have. His things are very masculine and mine very feminine. This furniture allowed for the perfect compromise. It says it is cherry and espresso, although there isn't a hint of cherry. But that's OK b/c it is a beautiful dark wood. We had it delivered to a local store and picked it up ourselves. Wonderful process and very easy. Saved nearly $200 on shipping. Gotta love compromise - we put it all together during Monday night football. Had it completed by the end. SO - with the right person, you can put it together quickly. My husband works from home and loves his new office. We found the EXACT same pieces (same manufacturer) on another site, but purchased it from WalMart b/c it was nearly $500 less than the competitor's price.
Desk looks wonderful. I will say - it took me 1/2 a day to put the desk together. Everything was in the box - I had it shipped to the local Walmart and saved the shipping costs. It's probably more brownish than cherry, but it has a nice warm tone to it. I do wish the computer storage area pulled out - easier to get to.
---When I purchased this desk, there was one reviewer who said she had returned it because she wanted the desk for in the middle of the room but it did not look good in the middle of the room. I also would have liked that option, but figured for the price (compared to other desks I found in this price range) I could just be happy with it against the wall. The desk is not unfinished on the non-drawer side, but the panel does not go all the way down to the bottom of the drawers & there is a hole for cable management to the top of the desk. ---Speaking of holes for cable management, I am going to have to drill some to be able to store the mouse and keyboard in the middle drawer. The face-plate of this drawer does fold down so that you can use it for a keyboard/mouse tray, but they did not provide a hole in the back for the cables. ---Now that I am done with the negative points, I think that if you like the desk from the images, you will like it when you put it together. It is a very nice looking desk & the drawers roll smoothly. Other than being stuck up against the wall, I believe I will be quite happy with it!
The desk is a good value and looks great. I had some damaged parts during the shipment, but the BUSH Company took care of it and sent new parts right away. It was easy to put together and the instructions are mostly illustrations, so not a lot of reading. This is a computer desk, I would recommend a flat screen monitor or you will loose a lot of room on top of the desk (narrow). Also, I had to run a small fan to circulate where the computer tower sits because the computer gets too hot in the cabinet. Remember this type of furniture will not last forever, but for the price you can't beat it!
I was very excited to recieve this desk (we also purchased the lateral file) but was a little disappointed while we were putting it together. In the process of attaching the drawer front a piece broke and my husband had to come up with a way to rig it since it doesn't come with extra pieces. Once the desk was complete one of the drawers does not close completely nor is it completely level (you can only tell if you are looking for it). Overall I am enjoying the desk and we are still in the process of assembling the filing cabinet. I hope Wal-mart doesn't do away with this line because we would like to eventually go back a purchase the bookshelf.
This desk is not for the fainthearted when it comes to assembly. It took my husband and I over2 hours. We are pretty skilled at following directions and putting things together. So i am just warning people. Because when you first open the box you are so excited, but pace your emotions to see the finished product. There are about 50 screws to screw in by hand. and all those smooth metal gliders for the drawers are different so you have to be a hundred percent sure which one goes where. Same with the screws, they come in bags and there are at least 6 different kinds- which would be okay if they were labeled, but they aren't. So you have to look at the directions carefully and figure out the actual size of the screw. Overall this was a good purchase. it is heavy and beautiful once put together. It is all laminate and particle board not solid wood. But for the price and our budget and what my husband needed right now it was a good purchase. hope this helps =)
Anyone considering purchasing this should know that this furniture line is a great product for the value. There are a few things i would change like the fake wood back board, but that's a minor issue. If you are looking for a product that is like a dark chocolate color (no hint of red/cherry), then these products are perfect. Very classy looking for a home office!
We bought this desk with the return and hutch. There is really no space to move without the arms hitting the sides. The keyboard tray needs to be moved over another 6 inchs in order to sit comfortably. The color is not cherry - no redish or warm tones... dark brown walnut color. With the hutch and return, there is plenty of storage space.
We purchased this desk based on a friends recommendation after she had seen it set up in a store. We took the box home and found it not only to be a challenge to put together but the quality was so poor that we just packed it back up and returned it. The "wood"surface was that peeling, cheesy photograph paper of wood and the product itself was more like cardboard than pressboard or wood. We were hoping to love the desk but it's hundreds of pieces and overall look were just too much.
