My dad is a plant enthusiast and I got this for him for his birthday. The quality of the box, the gift iteself and the happiness on his face made this gift wonderful from start to finish.
I got this for my nephews 8th birthday & he couldn't stop talking about it. He loves it!!! A must for any kid thats into bugs.
Kids loved this, n I can't wait to feed them lol, family fun time, teaches kids to grow plants and take care of them
Have only had this a few days, so can't comment on longevity or even growth, but I did want to let everyone know that the seeds come in two sets. One won't show any visible sprouts for about 3 months and the other has to be stored in the refrigerator for 6 weeks before it can be planted. I probably should have assumed that, but I didn't. My daughter still loved planting the first set of seeds and checks it daily.
This is easy to complete, fun and quick for kids HOWEVER, this takes a very long time to grow grown plants. Growing these plans from seed takes 6+ months per instructions. That is a long time for younge kids to wait.
Seeds take 6 weeks to germinate. Plants takes at least a year to be visible. We ended up going to store and purchase a Venus fly trap live plant so they could see it. Not many seeds in package. Great idea, but really does not work for small kids.
This was a Christmas present for my young son, who wants to be a botanist when he grows up. Naturally he was very excited to get started growing these meat eating plants. When we opened the package to get started there were no seeds! Thankfully, I emailed the manufacture and they are sending the missing seeds. There is a FAQ on their website and one of the questions is for what to do about missing seeds... Must be a frequently occurring situation. All in all he is going to have a great learning experience and lots of fun growing his monster meat eating plants. (Eventually.)
This was a gift for my 6 year old son and he was so excited to plant it and watch it grow. Unfortunately, this is too tedious for a child and the wait period is too extreme. You must put the seeds in the refrigerator for 6 weeks before planting and then wait several more months before the plants sprout. The kit is very cheap and poorly made. I would not recommend this to anyone. Go spend your money on a Venus fly trap and call it a day. The process of planting it is not that great!
I ordered this product from Wal-Mart and waited 11 days to receive it. When my daughter was excited to open the package, she found that there is no seed package in it, the most important part of the whole thing.
My boys were SO excited about this! They love growing things and to throw BUGS into the mix was heaven for them. We followed the directions to the letter (for both seed types) and we have not seen one seed sprout(going on 9 weeks now). I hate to see my kids disappointment when every day they check and find nothing.
