I had Wal-Mart send this directly to my niece for her graduation, so I haven't seen the product yet. She says it's the best gift she ever received. She will start teaching 5th grade this semester, so I imagine she'll use it in her class. Also the shipping cost was very cheap! I read many reviews before buying this. It certainly does what it claims; however it is not strictly a microscope. It's more like a kind of close-up webcam. It can examine very small things or small sections of bigger objects. To see a whole penny, for instance, other reviewers suggested propping it up on a halved paper cup. But is is cute and convenient. It looks like fun! And children should be able to use it by themselves to explore textures and the world of small things.
