The product arrived extremely fast and was better than expected. It was purchased for a 9 year old & she loved it. It was easy to operate & she learned how to use it in about 5 minutes or less. Since the image is displayed on the computer screen, her sisters could watch, too & one was only 3 years old & enjoyed seeing the images, too. The images can be saved and printed also so the microscope will be extremely useful for school science projects. A great microscope for the beginner to intermediate person. It can also be used optically & is handheld, so conceivably, it could be taken on a field trip. Exceptional value.
I bought this microscope for my nine year old to help with his science fair project. I am an avid comparison shopper, and found this microscope to be a bargain. Upon its arrival (just in time for Christmas) we unpacked it and loaded the software onto his laptop, and looked at the sample slides that came with the kit. The optics are very good, and the ability to capture pictures to a computer was great. The microscope is very compact, and sturdily built. The controls are solid feeling, and the stage is brightly lit. I highly recommend this product.
This microscope was exactly what I was looking for. Works great for the amateur. I haven't used the eyepiece—only the digital camera, which shows a clear display of the slide on your computer screen with great detail. The product seems durable. The only complaint I have is the lack of ability to focus with the highest zoom lens—you have to have a very low profile specimen to focus clearly—ie it must be slide mounted and has to be a thin glass slide. I would definitely recommend this product. It definitely pays for itself for only one hundred dollars.
The scope is OK. The camera is somewhat limited. The biggest problems are the focus and white balance the real miserable light. I would have expected much better from a scope in the days of bright white LED's. The camera software is also very limited (or perhaps it is the camera itself?) The picture changes color with just about anything including focus changes, lens changes, ambient temperature or light, etc. The three slides selection that comes with the scope is simply three prepared slides and not even a single blank slide and a cover. Get a box of slides and covers if you want to do any work of your own. However it is a relatively easy to use, small scope, that can get a kid interested in the science world.
I returned this product as it is not a hand-held microscope, as stated. The manual does not address its being hand-held. It is a stationary product. When photographing pictures, the finished pictures do not have realistic color. It constantly has to be re-focused. It does have good detail at 400x and it is a well-made product. It does not look or feel like junk. If you want a stationary microscope it might be OK if you need clarity and need to stay within a budget.
I was excited to get this microscope for my niece's birthday. When I opened the box to check it out, the microscope was covered in dust and had smudges all over it. It was obviously a display model. When my husband and I tried to use it, it would not focus on any settings. This was returned the next day.
