This knife sharpener is very easy to use & sharpens my old knives as well as my newer ones. I've been using it forever (10yrs) and I don't notice any dulling ( or ruining of the blades) I'm going to buy one for a gift and noticed the reviews saying otherwise. Yes it's a bit more spendy , but I'm guessing I won't need anything else in My lifetime. I have friends & family that come here to sharpen there knives . :) ENJOY !!!
I've not had this very long otherwise I might have given it a better rating on durability. very good product.
used once and it does work well. i have recovered 1 knife, with nicks in the blade to new condition
Like any tool, proper operation is important. Took a few tries to learn how to handle it properly, but then it is fantastic. Sharpened a lot of Chicago Cutlery knives we had that were totally dull. Tried sharpening them with the sharpening iron and with a ceramic sharpener to no avail. After sharpening with the Chef'sChoice Diamond Hone 3-stage Electric Knife Sharpener, they worked perfectly cutting thin tomato slices without spilling the seeds or crushing the slices. This paid for itself the first time I used it! I highly recommend it.
As long as you follow the directions "to the letter" in the excellent instruction manual included with the device, you will have literally "Razor Sharp" knifes. It is very easy to use properly too. Excellent pictorial aids also are a part of the instruction manual. Before I bought this device I owned an excellent "Henckel" chefs knife set from Germany. But they had not been sharpened properly in years, and I could never use the sharpener steel that came with the knife set. Consequently, most of the knives in this beautiful knife set would not cut butter! But now, they are fantastically all literally "razor sharp", so much so that I now have to be carefull in using them. My "bandaids and neosporin" got a good use for a while!! And the nice thing about it all, everybody, you get it for such a low price!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought this sharpener because I got tired of getting out the whetsotne to sharpen my kitchen knives. I love knives, swords, and other sharp objects and I'm constantly finding new uses for them in normal life. I have been so impressed with the performance of this sharpener on my kitchen knivs that I've actually ditched my whetstone and I'm sharpening my machetes on it now too.
This sharpener did a great job on our kitchen knives, but it just chewed up my husband's pocket knife.
But... With a little practice, you can get a sharpened edge. Note: Not as good for short knives, does not get first inch by handle, otherwise if you learn to slow down, with pull as suggested, and especially if you have a (carbide pull through v-sharpener) you can get a razor sharp edge. This is more a finishing tool, really bad blades need some rough work first.
I have used the product two or three times and it works great. Will be using it a lot more as I get a chance to sharpen all my knives. And to think, I debated ordering this for months. Order it now and you will be so pleased!!!!
My husband even liked this. Our knives are good, but even a steel wouldn't work anymore, for any amount of time anyway. This did the trick. Knives are sharp now and the sharpener was WAY easy to use. The instructions are clear and I would recommend this product for sure. I cook a lot and using dull knives is really a pain. This sharpener totally did the trick!! Thanks!
