I got this almost a year ago for my son who is now 10 months. i will admit, i was drawn because it fit the theme of his room... but it became so much more than that. It is now one of those things he just has to have. Music & sounds i found very soothing and he really seemed to enjoy them as well as the lights since birth. The mobile transitions between song and nature sounds and the soft light also changes colors in a soothing way. We have not had to replace batteries or lightbulb in 10 months and it has been used to peices. cons (if i had to give them) it does cost a pretty penny for a mobile... but in our case...we got our money worth. Also, as an infant we put the mobile at eye level next to his crib and now it stays in him crib. the projection of stars is blury at that distance. to view the stars on the celing it would be best to put the mobile on a dresser. My son just happened to like the actual mobile better than the stars. LOVE this mobile! and i hope you do too
