I always had wanted to be a redhead so several months ago I went to a salon and made the transistion there, as I wasn't to confident to do it on my own (I am a beautician who has been away from the trade for years). Once I got it done there I loved the look and didn't want to spend over $50 to have it done again there. I have -always- used Clairol products on myself in the past years (having been "taught" on them while in Beauty school) so I decided to go back to coloring my own hair again. Not knowing which product the beautician, who orginally did my hair, used I opted to try and experiment with the reds Clariol produces since I had had past good results with them. I took the leap and got the Natural light Auburn. (I had always used the natural dark blonde before for years) It turned out to be a little more "orange" then I wanted, as I was looking for more of a deeper red tone (not brown) but was still happy with the results. I have about 30% gray and it covered it well. I love the highlighted color blend, especially with my gray hair intermixed, and I have always appreciated the "conditoner" that is included in the box. I may try a deeper shade of red next time, not so orangy..not sure which color to pick. Any suggestions? As I really don't want to change brands. Also, how about mixing two (or three) colors together to get a more custom look, as I really do love to experiment and am not afraid to do it... ;-)

I went to a high end salon in British Columbia and they told me what an excellent job my hair colorist does on my hair, I said that hair colorist is ME! I do it at home! The lady could not believe it! My hair is shiny, there are differnet dimensions of high and low lights and it lasts 6 weeks! SO easy to do. I love it!

I have been using Nice N Easy #122 Soft Black for over 20 years now and love it. I have long hair and get many compliments on it all of the time. I have ALOT of gray all over and it covers perfectly. I do keep the color on for 45 mins from the time I finish applying the color on my hair before rinsing it out. I also use a plastic shopping bag (from like Walmart or grocery store) over my head to cover it during the 45 min baking time (as I call it). After rinsing it, I shampoo my hair, rinse, then apply the bb creme that was in the kit and leave on for 2 mins then do a final rinse. It's a process just as if I went to a salon. The grays are covered and my hair looks fabulous!

I normally dye my own hair using products from professional beauty shops. I was in a pinch though, and had to go with a regular box dye. I used color 114, Natural Light Ash Brown, and it turned out great. My hair came out the same color as the top of the box, and its SO shiny and soft. I've washed it several times with non-colorsafe shampoo, and it's held the color and shine very well. It's easy to use, and you get a good amount of product as well. I have waist long, thick hair and have recently had to buy 3 bottles to make sure all the hair is saturated, but two bottles was more than enough for me. Highly recommend this product, it's a great price, and even better quality!

I used this product for years. You kind of have to stick with it because unless your hair is actually black or very dark, the roots become noticeable when they grow back. I've never tried the root touch-up product, but I've seen it for this color and I would imagine it's a good idea to use it. This color is a shiny jet black, and I love the way it shimmers with a blue tint in the light. My hair always looked glossy and healthy after using it. If your hair is long and/or thick, I'd recommend using two boxes. The dye looks bluish purple when you use it (I usually left it on for about 45 minutes!), but the actual color is pure black after you rinse. Using petroleum jelly around the hairline is a great idea to avoid staining your skin, although of course it does eventually wash off after a couple of days, or quicker if you use something alcohol-based like hand sanitizer. The only downside of this product is that if you ever want to grow your hair out, it may take awhile if you don't bleach (which is not healthy!) and re-dye another color, and the gradually growing roots may look strange - it took me about two years to grow it all out!

Happy 1st Time Dying

This was my first time dying my hair. I expected it to come out darker from the other reviews, but it really matched my medium to dark brown hair pretty closely. But it is somewhat darker than on the box. I was unsure about how long to keep it on (the box says 25 minutes) because it took me 20 minutes just to get it all through my hair. After covering my whole head I waited about 10 more minutes before starting the rinsing process. It turned out fine though. As far as the quality of it - it's fantastic! My hair honestly looks and feels healthier than it did before I dyed it! I love the chocolate color combined with the nice red tones. And it covered my grays!! I'll definitely use Nice and Easy again. I might try a lighter brown, but this one is good too!

I am a natural blonde and I use 103A and absolutely love the natural looking color - it looks just like the hair color of my youth. I started getting dingy looking roots as I aged and the roots stayed darker (smokey gray), compared to the rest of my hair, especially the sun bleached areas coming out of summer fun -- this product does it all - beautiful color, natural looking and good feeling hair - what more do you need?..and all inexpensively.

Too brassy! Not what I expected.

I have been dyeing my hair for about six years now, all at home. It's changed between mainly blonde and brunette, given different shades of each. I hadn't dyed my naturally light brown/dark blonde hair in almost a year so I decided I wanted a change going into spring and I was getting bored. After reading that Nice N Easy had been around for give or take 50 years, I figured it was a safe bet and pretty reliable, so I purchased the Natural Light Blonde in Ash (102) thinking it wouldn't reaaalllyyy lighten my pretty dark hair, and I bought ash because I know I have red undertones in my hair. I had never ever had a problem with an ash color before until now. Even in the Hydrience I use a golden color and it doesn't turn my hair this brassy! I would not recommend this to anyone who is worried about their hair turning orange or who is looking to minimize the red in their hair. This product left me with bright bright bright color that has an orange pigment to it. Even when it was on my hair, the dye didn't turn purple like ash colors normally would; it turned a dark red. That should have been warning sign number one, but I decided to continue with the 25 minutes the directions told me to wait. So I did and I completely regret it. I'll be going back to what I always use and never ever using Nice N Easy again.
