He only has to be in school 90 mins a day. Working ahead, senior year is a self-study year for my son. Seems like a great time, but alas he found it challenging to maintain the discipline to get up on time. Clocky was enlisted to take in the challenge to get this 18 yr old on his feet and moving in the hopes that graduation would provide the start of productive days ahead. Time will only tell if Clocky and I will realize our goals.
I used to get get too accustomed to the sound of my alarms, and they would stop working to wake me up. Then, I got Clocky. I don't even use the feature that makes it run off the nightstand. This alarm is very loud and makes very variable noises that won't stop waking even somewhat heavy sleepers (like me!). I got my Clocky in October 2010, and it's still running perfectly; I haven't needed to change the battery yet; I have never been late due to sleeping through my alarm. And, I think it looks cute and sounds cute. Best alarm clock purchase I ever made.
This infuriating little alarm clock arrived rapidly, was effortless to remove from packaging, and was a genuine Nanda product. I had no trouble getting the battery door open or setting the time and alarm, which only needs to be set once, not reset daily. However, when it finally hit 5:30 a.m., this little devil starting making the LOUDEST robotic screeches I have ever heard. It had me out of bed and dashing across the room within seconds to make it SHUT UP. The second time it went off I had it on my nightstand, and was so quick to react to that awful noise that I reached out and caught it before it hit the floor. For a lazy nightowl college student, this thing's alarm alone makes it akin to a tiny drill sergeant. I've tried countless analog, digital, and even smartphone alarms to get me up and running in the morning, but nothing except Clocky has had an alarm that was loud or disturbing enough to wake me up more than to stir around until I could find the snooze button. Even when placed across the room, regular alarms aren't bothersome enough to merit getting out of bed. This thing, however, had me going into such an irritated rage that I could only glare back at it sitting innocently on the bedside table as I trudged to the shower. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it to those who have small children, nervous pets, or live within 100 meters of angry neighbors. For everyone else who needs an electric shock to wake up, this thing's like a swift kick in the behind that will make you hate it so much, you'll find yourself looking forward to the opportunity to triumphantly beat it into silent submission every morning.
I love Clocky! As someone who struggles terribly with waking up, I've tried multiple alarms to help me. It turns out I needed a little robot that runs away to wake me up! Clocky makes the most annoying sound (a good thing!) and forces me to drag my lazy bum out of bed to locate the little monster. By the time I locate him, my body has woken up enough that it's pointless to lay back down. Plus my dogs have learned that Clocky means I'll definitely get up to give them breakfast. So they love Clocky too! I will say I never put Clocky on a shelf. I know it says he's able to roll off of a lower side table, but I prefer to put him in different areas in my room at night so I never know exactly when he'll be when he wakes me up.
I bought this for my boyfriend who is NOT a morning person at all. He told me that on the first morning he snoozed it, and then, when it went off again, he went to go snooze it and it was no longer there! Now he has to race to get to it before it goes under the bed! :) The only thing that is odd about Clocky (or at least the one my boyfriend has) is that it goes backward first, so it was getting stuck under the night stand (it was a simple fix though, he just turned it around). Otherwise, it's a great product! Makes a great birthday present.
Met all product expectations from description of item without question. Very fun and cute product, yet at the same time, completely practical and useful. Much more effective than the standard alarm clock in aspect of noise and creativeness to wake us deep sleepers up!
Clocky is great. My 10 year old has trouble getting out of bed. With clocky, morning routine is fun. The alarm sound, is similar to a very famous little droid, with a varied beep. Both the movement and sound are perfect for waking a sound sleeper. I had trouble with the snooze button and one quick follow up email has Clocky working perfectly.
Bought for my nephew in junior high needing an alarm clock for tardiness but one for fun that was not too juvenile. Buying online added more expense but overall worth the money since the age is hard to please. He played with it for over an hour after receiving it and now uses it for school each day.
I’ve had trouble getting out of bed and getting my day started ever since I hit puberty (15 years ago). This thing actually gets me out of bed!!! I’m a mechanical engineer, and looking at this thing, I can tell you: dropping it 3ft off an end table every day is only going to decrease the life of it, drastically. Unless you have a pillow under it I just don’t see it making it more than 2 years before part of the wheel breaks letting it fall like that.It’s made of plastic and just isn’t made to take a beating like that for an extended time. I set the alarm, and set it on the floor overnight in a different spot each day, and I’ve had incredible luck with it. The clock runs and seems to always find somwhere to hide. Also, the sound of R2-D2 at climax is certainly a sound that gets me out of bed in a rush. The plastic/price is just a trade off. If they went with steel axels and bearings it may last a bit longer, the clock would cost a lot more. Take care of your investment and your new mornings and just set it on the floor each night.
I ordered this three weeks before my sons 15th birthday, as it was going to be one of his gifts. It arrived after his birthday, and it was pink. Such a waste… Buy on Amazon instead.
