The Dual View Dash Cam 2316D was very easy to set up and use. I would recommend the Dash 2216D, only because the I-Radar app.is not worth the extra price. Both of the cameras, main and rear view take clear video and playback with the Drive HD Dash Cam Player download is very good.
The camera components were well packaged in a secure, well-designed box. The cameras have not yet been installed, due to waiting on the ability to order wiring harnesses that are currently out of stock. There is no estimate on installation, since there is no estimate on harness availability.
I hooked this up in my car last weekend and it is perfect. It has the rear camera that goes in the back window and the dash cam also. I ran the cable right down the side of the vehicle. I ran it from the back window down the side of the back seat, shoved it into the seat so it is hidden then down the door by the carpet and shoved it up under the plastic piece by the carpet. Up the side of the car and to the front dash cam. Then that camera I ran the cable again down the side and to the power supply. It looks very clean. What I love about this camera. 1. Dual view. You can see front and back together on the screen or you can pick just one to show up. Or you can even just have the screen black and not see either camera. 2. Both are HD. While the rear is only 720 it is still HD. 3. Front and rear! If you get in an accident you are covered. If someone his you from behind again... Covered. 4. Continuous loop. It records on a loop unless something triggers the camera that an accident occurred. At which point it locks that piece of recording. 5. Lane departure and too close warning. These are both nice. However they are a little too sensitive so I have them off. Lastly audio recording. This is perfect if you get pulled over. You can record the whole conversation. All in all this is an amazing dash cam and WELL WELL WORTH THE COST!
So far so good. Bought mostly for the lane departure and potential crash warnings. The warning sounds need to be louder. If I would depart lane due to a nod off, I don’t know if the warning would wake me. The camera functionality is fine. Haven’t looked at picture quality yet.
The cord for the rear camera could of been a little longer. I was not able to put it in the middle of the cars back window and some of the wire had to had instead of being hidden around the frame of the car. The video recorder is smaller then expected.
After struggling for 18 months with a Cobra CDR 905 DBT dash cam that finally died, I upgraded to this camera. Works well. No longer have the key-less entry interference nor the Bluetooth silliness of the old unit. Cobra let me return the old camera for a $75 rebate. Nice. The GPS mount option is a nice feature as well. No longer any requirement to connect to a smart phone to get GPS coords embedded in the video. Only wish there was an option for a longer wire for the rear camera (so I could hook it up behind my truck tailgate).
For the price the Cobra does an adequate job. Installation was easy and the 13ft extender cable for the rear camera was more than long enough to route hidden in the trim of a Mazda3. Use is straight forward and picture quality is good. You can pay twice the price and maybe get better night time resolution, so that's a choice you'll have to make.
I'm not to happy with the DASH2316D Dual camera for the following reason; 1. The night recordings of the camera is very poor. You really cannot make out anything in the night recordings. 2. There are too many cables involved with the connection of the front and rear view cameras. It's very confusing to connect both cameras and the connection of the rear camera causes additional cables to connect it. Why can Cobra allow the connection of the second camera get its power from the main camera and eliminate the messy and cumbersome cables. I decided not to connect the rear camera for this reason. If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have purchased the dual camera system. Thank you!!!
It needs to record miles per hour it doesn’t show it on the screen or on the recording my other camera had miles per hour on the camera itself and the recording without it you don’t stand a chance in court , you can’t prove how fast you were going .that’s my downfall other than that it’s a good camera
When I saw Bluetooth, I thought I was going to be able to view playback on iPhone. Not the case. IRadar is only as good as the amount of folks that have Cobra iRadar. If it integrated with Waze then you might have a tool. As it stands right now it is fairly worthless. Other models out there stream to phone. In our case if I want to show a cop a video he would have to sit in my car because if I detach the camera to show him a video the camera has no battery so it would go dead. If you have it hard wired to window, you would have to replay it in with supplied cig lighter cord. This camera missed the boat on some basic convienances. Otherwise decent picture and sound, but probably would have bought Other set up due to these shortfalls.
