for a first time mp3 player for a young child this is a great unit. easy to use and it has nice output. the little speakers are built right in and our daughter loves it for night time next to her bed when she's falling asleep. the price is right and the quality is great. it doesn't present itself as a "cheap" version of a mp3 player. very happy with our purchase. It also has radio which is an additional purchase for an IPOD.
