My wife went to Target and bought me four cassette stereos each one of them had problems, then she went to walmart online and found this stereo,and this stereo works wonderfully. I dusted my old tape case off and started playing the oldies again. The sound from the stereo is clear and a crisp.The buttons are very touch friendly. I would recommend this stereo to everybody.
This Coby boombox is a good deal for the price. I purchased it for the cassette player as I have a lot of cassettes and they are pretty much obsolete. It offers really good sound considering it is not a a real large box. It comes in three pieces and there is a little assembly required. Although it was not difficult even for myself. As I really don't like putting things together. I had never heard of Coby and was apprehensive but am I pleased with the quality of the product. I would recommend it to a friend. Good buy.
Likes: Good sound, has a cassette player (my #1 reason for buying it), good price (my #2 reason), compact and attractive, can record CD's and radio to cassette. Dislike: Confusing set-up directions particularly regarding attaching wires for speakers and attaching speakers to main unit, (directions seemed to be for another model as some of the parts they mention are not there and not even necessary), flimsy plastic (what isn't these days?). Basically, especially for the price, I'm happy with it and recommended it to a neighbor.
Needed a Stereo Player for a family member with all the usual features ... BUT NEEDED a Cassette Player. This was the only one I could find at Walmart with the Cassette Feature. Only available on-line. Smooth transaction .... Delivered right to my front door. VERY Happy!!
I previously purchased a portable cassette player from Walmart that didn't work and had to return it. I then purchased this product which works well but it is much larger than the measurements provided online. Since it is described as "Mini", the measurements provided seemed correct. But it is larger, I thinkk the measurements provided are only for the center part of the system (yes, the speakers are removable).
Bought this for my daughter who listens to it daily. Really nice for the money and she can use it as a boom box, or set it up in her room with the speakers detached. Headphones can easily be used.
I was looking for a good cassette recorder that would record off-air for later playback at the gym. Not too many such devices available nowadays, though. This one looked promising, the price was right, so I decided to try it. First, it took too long to set up the speakers--just to attach the speakers to the radio seemed to take ages, and the speaker wires wouldn't stay attached and would need stripping to get a good conection to the speaker jacks. Oh, well, those seemed like minor inconveniences to overcome, as the radio-recorder feature would make it worhwhile. When I turned the radio on, the FM stations came in pretty well, but the AM stations were hard to tune, plus the sensitivity to weak signals could be improved. The knobs were probably designed by a fashion geek who knew nothing about functionality. There are 2 operating knobs: The large knob controlled the sound amplitude, while the small knob was in charge of tuning in the radio stations. Right away you can see that that was a big mistake. Tuning with the small knob made it difficult to find stations, especially weak ones. It really needs an external antenna to draw in weak stations. So not only was the tuner anemic on AM, but it was mechanically disappointing, as was the entire radio. I had to return it to Wal Mart for a refund. The audiotape function was adequate, but it was poorly described in the operating instructions. It is supposed to automatically reverse directions when the tape ends, but the handbook described another radio-CD-audiotape recorder. I never got around to trying out the CD player because I didn't buy the boom box for the CD player.
For the price I was not expecting the greatest sound quality but I did expect a functional system. The package did arrive in a timely manner. The speakers were both separated from the main system and I never did get them to latch on to the sides correctly. The one page of directions were no help at all. I had to attach a very thin set of speaker wires to the unit and my fingers would not fit in there, a very trying experience :) Finally, I was done and the power cord did not want to stay in the back of the unit. I had to replace it. At last the unit was together, I pushed the button on the CD Play button and nothing happened. In all fairness, the FM stereo did work. I returned the product the very next day.
I cannot believe that Walmart would actually send me a used item. As soon as I opened the box, it was evident that this system was used and repackaged. There was no power cord anywhere and there was a cassette tape still in the cassette chamber. The tape was an old beat up tape with foreign handwriting on it. I have purchased many things from Walmart online with no problem. This is the last thing I will ever buy from them.
This item evidentally was damaged in shipping. Upon inspection it is noticed that the quality of this item is rather insufficient and will never order another without physical inspection before purchase.
