The Cool Baker is overall a fun treat. Who wouldn't like to make chocolate? My 8 year old daughter loved this. We've used other DIY products, like a cake pop maker, which turned into a complete failure, so my hopes weren't very high for this chocolate maker. To my surprise, it was a complete success. Nothing is 100% perfect, so let me get down to what could be improved. In the box, it says 15 minutes in the freezer, but the owl mold took longer to cool down. I did use two different type of chocolates, so that's probably why. The wait time wasn't too bad, because by the time we finished the 2nd mold, the first mold was ready to be eaten. Also, just a note, you have to buy your own chocolates to melt, but it's worth it!
I received the product as part of a promotion from the brand. My kids had so much fun with this product making candy . I like that it is so easy to use and is easy to make candy because you can can use any kind of chocolate product which is a nice change from other product that you have to buy mixes only that you can get in some stores . This a fun product that your kids will just love to use . The best that there is no heat need to melt the chocolate making safe for the kids to do on their own . I would so recommended this to everyone .
The whole concept of The Cool Baker is well... cool. When I recieved it I was eager to try it with my 8 year old daughter. It was fairly easy to put together and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I felt that it was rather strange that it didn't come with chocolate but we had chocolate chips in the cabinet so it all worked out. Melting the chocolate proved to be a bit challenging. You put a few chocolate chips in a dish that has hit water inside of it- then you have to stir for 5-10 mins... It was more like 10-15 mins. After melting the chocolate the rest of it was a breeze. My daughter filled the molds and was able to complete the rest of the chocolate making with little help. Gift bags and tags are included which I thought was a neat thing. It was a fun bonding time for my daughter and I and she gives it 2 thumbs up.
Both of my daughters, ages 6 and 9 were excited to make chocolate with this kit. My 9 year old was even more excited she could do it all by herself. The chocolate does take about 10 minutes to melt, which lost my 6 year olds attention, however she loved the end result.
I received the cool baker set free as part of a BzzAgent campaign. This is my honest opinion of the product. I have two girls, ages 6 and 8, who were soo excited to try this chocolate maker! My 8 year old was able to put the set together all by herself. I thought the set was made out of pretty flimsy plastic, however, after several uses it has held up perfectly. Chocolates is not included, but luckily I had some on hand. You melt the chocolate in a container filled with hot tap water. I was not sure this method would actually melt the chocolate, but it worked fairly quickly. The three compartments used to melt the chocolate are pretty small, so you are only able to make 1-3 chocolates at a time, depending upon the mold you choose. The supplied paint brush for creating more detailed chocolates was a little difficult to use, but my girls enjoyed making the chocolates without it. For the price, I think this is a great gift for any little baker.
Bought the Chocolate treats maker for my 4 year old. She was super excited to make her very own candy, especially the owl and bear molds (which in theory are adorable). Putting the spinning machine together was a bit difficult and the pieces don't snap well to the base. As far as the chocolate, none are included, you have to buy your own. I would get the melt chocolate from the craft aisle. The bowl included to melt chocolate with hot water does what it's supposed too, if you put nearly boiling water in it. After we finally got the chocolate melted and the one of the molds filled, we snapped the mold in a began to spin. Chocolate began seeping out of the mold and made quite a mess. That being said after we chilled the mold my daughter was ecstatic over the candy she made. We tried to make a design with the owl which was a complete fail but she was happy and that's what matters. Overall, I would recommend this product. The molds are the best part and I honestly don't see the need for the spinning contraption. We have yet to make any lollipops but we had a great time making candy together and I look forward to making more with my little one.
I received this product in exchange for my honest review from Bzz Agent. My nine year old daughter was so excited for this set to arrive, she was counting down the days until it got here. Once it got here, we excitedly opened the box and saw that chocolate was not included. So, that was a bit of a bummer because we had to run to the store to buy some chocolate chips before starting the fun. That's totally ok though, just know to be prepared with chocolate on hand when you get this! The set was a lot of fun, and my nine year old was able to operate it totally by herself after I showed her how. A few tips.... 1. Make sure you use cooking spray on the molds, or the chocolate will stick. 2. Know that the chocolate melts really slowly, as hot water is the only catalyst used. 3. Wear clothes you don't mind getting messy. Overall this set is a lot of fun, and my daughter truly loved it. Use the treat bags included in the set to give some fun treats away to friends!
My child enjoyed using this while it lasted, but the legs broke on it after the second use. It also does not melt chocolate as easily as stated.
I got this product for free in exchange for my honest review through BzzAgent. My daughter and I were super excited to try this HOWEVER, it wasn't what we expected at all. :( First of all, it was not easy to assemble. The instructions weren't that clear and we had to spend about 30 minutes trying to figure it out. Also, once you get it assembled, there's no turning back. It's impossible to disassemble it again for storage, etc. When we finally got it ready for use, we put the hottest water we can get in the little "melting pot" they provided. It didn't work!!! My daughter kept on stirring it and mixing it, but very little's happening. After 15 minutes, my daughter gave up and we just ended up putting the chocolate in the microwave - which is the exact opposite of what the box advertises which is - "no microwave required". After we heat up all the chocolates in the microwave, we followed the instructions and everything went well. I noticed that putting it in the spinner and rotating it over and over doesn't really help at all. I think the only thing that's useful in this toy are the molds. Everything else is pretty much useless. It's so much work and pain for 3 or 4 little chocolates. :( Unfortunately, I think that's the last time we'll ever use this. It's not worth the effort.
took an hour to make 3 pieces, followed the directions and some of the pieces would not release from the molds. The melting tray is a joke, I can melt chocolate in my microwave in under a minute and have it ready to use, this took 10+ minutes just to get the chocolate to a workable consistency. It is very cheaply made and I will be surprised if it withstands another process.
