I've been cooking all my life and thrive on good basic healthy food. This rice cooker is a wonderful substitute for using a pot on the stove and keeping an eye on it while I stick-handle another pot steaming vegetables and cook the protein. It makes perfect rice every time and I can cook the vegetables at the same time in the steamer on the unit. It's easy to clean up as it's dishwasher safe. If you're a control freak and insist on having a control panel that looks like 747 cockpit, this is not the unit for you. If you like simple, quick, easy, and reasonable, you can't beat it!! Have fun.

What a joy to have perfect rice! I was concerned because the booklet didn't give a time for specific kinds of rice. It figured it out for plain white rice just right.
This is the second one of these units we have bought. We also own the 8 cup version of this for when we have a large crowd. The 4 cup is our everyday use rice cooker. We like everything about this cooker. We do not use the steamer option. If you load 4 full cups you will get over boil and it spirts out from under the lid. We cook 3 cups at a time and it works perfectly. We did try another brand but it did not cook the rice fully.
This is my first Cuisinart rice cooker. I really like how powerful this small pot is and how fast it makes the rice. However, really do not like is how the lid fits. It does not stay on well, making it easy for it to slip off & crack (it's glass)
Cooke rice quickly and the result is good, however, I can cook rice in any pot, and I cook it at only a simmer for longer. That way I can cook it in broth and the flavor infuses the rice rather than burring on the sides of the cooker. The cooking and steaming combination works very well and it is great for reheating rice and another dish at the same time. Overall, a convenience not worth the shelf space, unless you eat a lot of plain white rice.
Works well but very messy. It splatters all over the countertop.
The lid does not prevent splattering from coming out of the pot and makes a mess. The lid at inside of rim is very difficult to clean and takes forever to get rid of all food particles. This rice cook does not have the ability to cook brown rice.
This unit is going back to the store today. Followed the directions and the 3 x I used it, it would boil over and make a huge mess I went online in search of reviews thinking I was doing something wrong, and to my surprise, many reviews said the same thing. I should have searched the reviews before I went out, but have always liked Cuisinart so I didn't think I needed to. Lesson learned.
This is so beautiful but..... The cooker only worked 4 times. On my 5th time of use, it did NOT work at all. This cooker needs 2 covers or else it boils and spills over the whole countertop. Misleading piece of junk kitchenware. I returned it and boughg a normal traditional one instead.
