My Advice: BUY it! THIS is the ashtray you've been looking for!! I have one that I bought for my car, and now I'm going after additional ones for the house. This ashtray not only lights up in the dark (with the attached lid fully open), but also stays unlit, if you want, by opening the lid "most" of the way up. Replacement batteries are available at Walmart for a very low price and change out easily so that the interior lid light works forever. This has been in two different cars for 6 years! If I get up in the middle of the night and smoke, I won't be turning lights on to see the ashtray. The lid portion comes off so that you can empty it, and re-attaches easily. There is a metal plate inside the bottom of the ashtray so no burning through the bottom! And the top closes so no stale cigarette smell the next day! I can't say enough good about this ashtray!
I was actually searching on line for a simple non lighted one but could not find so ordered this one. When got to store found one I wanted so that's the one I ended up actually getting. Very happy with the one I got.
