Guess I'm a lucky one

I wanted a portable player so I could have it with me when I ride the bus, but also for home and car use. I read a lot of reviews describing poor reception, but I wanted to see for myself. Living in Spring, 30 miles north of Houston TX, I hoped for the best. I was not disappointed at all. Using only the included antenna headphones, I picked up a signal enough to activate the unit and listen outside the house in very overcast and rainy weather. I didn't expect the antenna headphones to cut it in the house, so I bought the home kit for my first accessory purchase. It is really worth it, the indoor/outdoor antenna with the home kit is set up on my roof, and I have almost 100% satellite signal. And I don't have the clearest view of the sky either! Also, if you live near a major city, there are terrestrial signal boosters, so that helps too. With the remote (home kit) recording songs and programs is as easy as pressing a button. It's like radio TIVO. I haven't tried loading my own mp3s, but at this point I don't even care about that feature. I tried to test it in my truck without the vehicle kit, and I was able to pick up a semi-reliable signal driving around 30-40 miles out northeast Houston, using the antenna headphones only. If you have somewhere to record programs with a reliable signal, you never have to worry about being without a signal elsewhere, because you have 100 hours of space to record on the thing. If you live near a big city and you're thinking about getting one of these, I highly recommend trying it out. I'm also happy with the home kit and surely will be happy when I get the vehicle kit too. There are probably features with the Stilletto 2 that will push me to upgrade in the future, but this is a great start. I've never had satellite radio but I can't imagine being without it or this portable unit ever again.

Great device. I purchased this with the home kit and vehicle kit. Getting reception in a building is a little difficult, but with the kits it's definitely not a problem. I love being able to take this with me on a walk or bike ride, listen in my car, or just put on the docking station at home. I can quickly save the songs I like to a favorites list and purchase them right off my list. I also like the wi-fi option if I'm not in an area where I get good reception, but I do have internet access.

I recieived mine a an xmas gift from my wife and I love it! I got the car kit so i can switch it easily between vehicles and also remove it and listen to it all day on my works wi-fi. This product did not let me down in any way. In fact i just ordered a second unit as my first unit was stolen out of my truck.

So many great features that i'm still like a kid on Christmas when I use it. the satellite replays are awesome and the mp3 capabilities are better than I expected. The Wi-Fi performs WAY beyond my expectations and the sound quality is highly enjoyable.

Product needed for West Virginia mountains for music. Doesn't work in the house but outside works great. Had to get docking station for car also..Love it. Would recommend it but the booster for the auto docking station was expensive to have installed. The portable radio and the car dock was very reasonable.

This product is perfect. it is exactly what i was looking for. it is a personal radio and an ipod all in one. the signal is pretty good, i haven't had an issue with it yet except I don't have a home kit and the antenna headphones that come with the product do not work in the house not even near the windows.

Great item not as stand alone

Known issue: I purchased this product knowing the unit has weak satellite signal. My intentions was to install using the SLV1 car kit. Problem is no one has the car kit locally. I understand the Stiletto 2 is out and now local electronics stores and wal-mart are out of the Stiletto 100 car kits. I guess I could buy on-line but impatient me went out and took it back due to low to no satellite signal. The good: A Battery operated MP3 player. Great display. Easy to use. Connects to wireless LAN. The Bad: Weak signal in stand alone satellite mode. (headphone is the antenna) No longer accessory supported locally. Slightly large in size Heavy with extended battery. (Siletto 2 greatly improved but very pricey) Overall I killed the idea before giving it a chance due to lack of local car kit availability. Great item otherwise.

I bought this for my son as a Christmas gift. We like the look and convenience of being able to take it with you and listen to it. The problem is that the reception is not all that great. The internet radio is fine for the house but satellite reception is poor, and we are very close to Boston. I don't think I would purchase again. I think I would get an IPOD

Poor Signal

The problem with this product is getting a signal. Even out in the open you only get 1 or 2 bars. So it is useless inside. They provide a head set that doubles as an antenna but it is not comfortable to use. The second problem I have is that all the stations are not available on-line. Over all do to the lack of a good signal I am disappointed with this product and therefore would not recommend it.

I was so excited to find this product. I just knew it was going to be the perfect gift for my husband. However, it just didn't live up to my expectations. It is very simple to use and has great features. The problem is that it will not keep a signal no matter where you are. I think it's a great concept that needs lots of work before it becomes a great product.
