A Good Vacuum for the Money

I've had the vacuum for a while now, and it has been very good to use. It does what you'd expect from a vacuum selling for triple the price. Very good value! It meets my expectations, which were that it would be good vacuum for a decent price. It comes with all a home owner would need. It has a Power Brush for cleaning Staircases and Upholstery, a little tool for cleaning hard floors, an extension, and a nozzle to get into small places. It allows you to turn off the brushes for hard floors, but it works better with it on. The hose is also quite short. I find it isn't lightweight, but it isn't heavy. Finally, it has a great appearance. It has a sleek purple look, and all the tools are kept out of the way on the back of it, except for the power brush, which is stored slightly below the handle. It doesn't get in the way, though. I would suggest this vacuum for a person who just wants to get their house clean. It does no more, no less, but it does what it does very well!

When my $30 vacuum died (and I finally had an apartment rather than a dorm) I decided it was time to graduate to a real woman vacuum. I researched many models and brands, and finally settled on this model. Things that helped me pick this one were it's durability, price, lack of any serious negative reviews, and on-board tools. Turns out, my two hours of research paid off. Besides looking super cool in it's purple color, (what is better than that!?) it works great! We live in a very snowy area, and the crews put out a lot of sand and rock salt to keep the roads clear. Due to this, we get a lot of sand and dirt inside. This vacuum works like a charm! You can hear it sucking up the sand, and it's music to my ears. I am a smaller lady, and the weight of the vacuum did take a little getting used to. It's much heavier than any vacuum I've used, but that's not saying a how lot. It is fairly comparable to noise (my husband could carry on a phone conversation in the next room without having to close the door.) The filter does need to be cleaned every now and then, but it's easy to clean. Since it's a bagless vacuum, there are no bags to change, I just hold the canister over the trash and push a button. (There is some dust, but a dust rag cleans that up quick.) I've only had the vacuum for a month, so I don't have a good base for how long it will last, but it seems to be doing okay, and my research suggested it did okay. (We live in a world of planned obsolescence, so it's not going to last 30 years.) And hey, the price was reasonable. We bought it at our nearest Walmart store for around $150. I would recommend this model to anyone looking for a good quality vacuum that doesn't cost a bunch. Happy cleaning! :)

Some tips for fellow owners of this vacuum

I have some tips for fellow owners of this vacuum. I, like many, bought this vacuum and loved it for the first few months. It seemed to be powerful and clean well. But after a while it seemed to lose it's oomph. I discovered two things that are easy to do, and made it work like new again! First, I discovered that those silver colored cone things in the canisters come out. You turn them a quarter turn counter-clockwise, and they come right out. (There may have been something in the manual about this, but being an anxious woman, wanting to use my new vacuum, I didn't read it!) The first time I popped these out, I was shocked! There was SO much twisted up hair and carpet fuzz behind these things, I couldn't believe it! It seemed like it just kept coming out! Now I take these out about once a week and clean them. Another thing I have found, I don't use the belt on/off lever. It stretches the belt out. A couple of weeks ago, I was at my wit's end with this thing, ready to put it in the trash. It just didn't want to suck anything up. As a last ditch effort, we decided to take the belt guard off and look underneath for any jams. We discovered that the belt was extremely stretched and loose. So loose that is was hardly turning the beater bar. It's funny, you don't think of changing a belt unless it's broken, but we did, and it works like new again! When we compared the old belt with the new one, the old one was about 2" bigger than the new one! We just figure that the belt on/off lever is stretching the belt out. And if not using it keeps my vacuum working good, it's a feature I can do without! Hope this helps someone out there!

I bought this product because my son has an allergy to dust mites. It worked great for the first two months but one day (cleaning up baby powder) I noticed that it wasn't sealed all the way on the bottom of the dirt cup and dust could escape if you jerk the vacuum. It has also lost a lot of its suction performance. Would have taken it back but lost the reciept.

This vaccum is the most expensive one I have ever bought and lasted the least. I have had it for 8 months and have had nothing but problems with it. I used it fine for about 2 weeks then it shut off after I vaccumed half of one rooms floor. I have a 3yr warranty on it and yet I still have to pay for shipping to have them fix it and in the mean time I have to wait at least a month to have it fixed. I have kids how is it possible to go without a vaccum for that long? My advice do not purchase it is a horrible vaccum and had caused way to much stess on me....

I bought this vacuum because it had all the features I was looking for and it was a great color for my family with a wife and 2 daughters. It broke after only 1 1/2 uses and I noticed they seem to break for a lot of other people. DON'T BUY THIS VACUUM!!! Pick any other vacuum you want. BUYER BEWARE!!!

I bought this vacuum cleaner two months ago and it has been a nightmare to deal with. "WHEN" it works, it does an okay job, however, I have to take it apart and unclog the suction tunnel every time I use it which averages 3-4 times a week. If I don't clear it each time, dust billows out and it overheats. By the time I get finished cleaning it and reassembling it, I have more dirt on me than is on the floor. I'd like to tell my husband to hop on it and ride it back to the store from which it came, but I've lost the receipt.

I am a vacuum junkie. I go through vacs like some women go through purses. Not that I am hard on them, I just get tired of them and want something new. This looked promising. Sharp looking, talks a big talk, but the preformance is unforgivable. WASTE OF MONEY. Those cool looking shiny spears are actually a cheaply coated plastic. After a few uses they will flake and be very ugly. But that is just the tip of the iceburg. Right out of the box, a routine vac, didn't even make it through HALF of the room before it clogged and instantly shut off. What did it clog on??? No socks, no belts/ribbons..... nope, it clogged on about a quarter size amount of DUST. DUST. Can't even begin to think what would happen if it sucked up a real mess like pet hair or cereal crumbs. It took nearly completely taking it apart to reach the TINY area where it feeds into the dust cup, which is where the clog was located. It wouldn't start again for nearly 2 hours after it "cooled" back down. This baby was cleaned up, taken apart, put back in the box and returned for a refund. Ended up with a Bissle Lift-off Pet. That lived up to expectations. Save your money and buy ANYTHING but this Dirt Devil.
