I've had one for years. Saves me the effort of attaching a hose to my upright when getting into tight spaces. Great for stairs and furniture, as well as cleaning off dusty items from storage. The first reviewer probably never shut the rotating brush cover closed when trying to use the tube. You'll never get tube suction if you leave that open. Only wish it came with a long rigid tube extension and a brush end tool for the tube aside from the crevice tool.
Had previously purchased a hand vac by another manufacturer (Think of the movie Jaws and you can guess the company's name). I called their customer service dept and asked about the high pitched noise coming from the machine. It became so irritating I couldn't stand using it and my dogs fled the room for safety. According to the company's rep, this was a common feature and that the engineering dept was aware of this. Returned the product. Purchased the Dirt Devil and am so glad I did. Suction is powerful. Does the job and then some. The dogs no longer run for the hills, either.
The hose from an older Dirt Devil Hand Vac detached and I was able to use duct tape for a month but then I had the same problem so it was time to purchase a replacement model. I always keep two of these Dirt Devils-one upstairs and one downstairs for small and quick jobs like bathroom floors, car interiors, steps, and catching insect and spider "critters." I love having the bags inside the vacuum as I have used bagless appliances before-yucky! With this vacuum, you just toss the bag and put in a fresh one. It always surprises me how long it takes to fill a bag. The cord is nice and long and it is a pretty powerful unit for the size. I use it frequently. This is a great Walmart price. I had mine sent site to store. It arrived in just a few days and I could track the shipment online. Thanks, Walmart!
I have had an old dirt devil and it finally quit. This one is much more powerful and I love the on board hose. It absolutely does a fantastic job on my stairways. I have two cats and it picks up all of the tiny bits of cat litter that seem to get on my steps. I would recommend this product highly to anyone that needs a hand held sweeper for small quick jobs!!~~
Myself and husband have used this product for the past 15 years and nothing has changed with it. It still has the best dog hair pickup suction that works better than most on the market today. We have a shark upright but it cannot do the job that this "Little Monster" can do! Thanks Dirt Devil for not changing anything in this product! Awesome price too!
I, too have used Dirt Devils for years and was pleased when I found the Ultra available. The tube, indeed, is not as powerful as a tank-type, full-size vacuum but is adequate for most small jobs. Perhaps the reviewer has a "lemon" and should give it another try.
I bought this after many people highly recommending it and saying that they last forever. I thought it would be useful for vacuuming the stairs and for getting dog hair off of the couch. It has been useful for the stairs and it's way better than dragging the vacuum cleaner up and down. I cannot use it on my couch due to the couch's fabric (a leather blend). The brush rollers are extremely powerful and after one use I was afraid I'd soon wear right through the couch's fabric. It does have a hose, but it's not very useful. It's only about 8 or 10 inches long and only has one skinny attachment for it. Overall, I'm still pleased and will be glad I have it each time I need to vacuum the stairs.
I bought this cute Dirt Devil Ultra Corded Hand Vacuum a couple of weeks ago. It does the job. It is loud but works. I especially like the little suction handle for the tiny hard to pick up spots, overall I'm satisfied. A discount would of been better. But I'm the end it's just for small clean up spots.
I'm a professional house cleaner and I've tried a lot of vacuum cleaners on the market. As I use my clients' appliances depending on what their household needs are, I'd definitely recommend this Dirt Devil to any one who wants to grab bad and overwhelming pet hair on upholstery, furniture and staircases. I tried many vacuums and the ones with best suctions are not comfortable to use in standard US staircases; the ones that fit the staircases don't have the right suction or don't work well with upholstery. Pretty much I haven't find the perfect vacuum (do all) yet! If you have hairy pets and you need something that will get rid of the hair off your furniture and every little place, this is definitely the best hand held vacuum I've used so far ( I'm talking about efficiency here). Yes it's VERY loud and heavy on the arm.... I hate that it has a bag too. There are always some leakage if you are dealing with dusty places.
I just needed a hand vac with a hose to replace the Dirt Devil hand vac that died. I had it for many years and it was great! So when I saw this one, I immediately ordered it. It was the worse piece of junk I have ever purchased. Very cheaply made, didn't have any suction and I couldn't bring it back to Walmart fast enought. I can't imagine what anyone could use this for.
