I like using this brand. Doesn't disappoint at all great taste easy to use. Don't have to add anything else to it but if your a Hispanic like me I like to kink up the taste and add chocolate to it. But I'm glad I got some free samples from BZZAgent. Mole from Dońa Maria is the only product I've tried from this brand. Still have other foods to try from this brand.
I think I have known the Dona Maria mole for years, it has been in the family for as long as I can remember. The fact that they came up with a much easier way to enjoy this mole is just amazing. When my husband comes home I can have this ready in a few minutes. When my child and I get home from school/work, just a few minutes and something is ready. The taste remains delicious and I have already bought some more since we are big enchilada fans.
We only use Doña Maria mole in our house, we traditionally use the mole paste in glass cups but also love the convenience of the ready to serve mole in the box. Mole can be time consuming so our family usually saves it for special occasions, having a ready to serve option is nice because you can have it whenever you get a craving without having to go through the long process of preparing it. I recommend using this for enmoladas, enchiladas but with mole sauce. You can make rolled tacos with chicken or cheese filling and top them with the ready to serve mole sauce and queso fresco. Although mole is traditionally used in chicken dishes my family has tried this sauce with shrimp and it was delicious! The sauce isn't soupy or too thin and thickens up nicely. The flavor is good on its own but if you prefer a sweeter mole you can add your sweetener of choice.
I was not expecting dinner to be so easy and quick! I heated some oil and then added the mole. Got it simmered for a couple of minutes and then drizzled over the chicken. My husband LOVED it. I'm still learning to make authentic dishes and my husband thought I made this from scratch! I didn't tell him it came from a carton! My MIL will be mad that i can make a good mole now. Lol. My son loved it too and he's never had mole before.
Mole is a spicy Mexican gravy/sauce made from a wide range of ingredients, usually served over meat. It is generally thick, rich and flavorful. This is a good mole for being a mass market product. It has a nice rich texture and good low spice flavor. I use it as a topping for enchiladas or as a cooking sauce for baked chicken with rice. To add make it more spicy just add more chiles pasilla.
Mole ready to serve is a great ingredient to add to a plethora of dishes for a quick and easy dinner. I used this to make Pambazo with Chicken Mole, because the box is only suggested for 2 servings I ended up using two cartons to make enough for dinner and leftovers. The great thing about this product is that you can eat it as is or you can add some spice and make it your own. 10/10 would recommend.
So I made some enmoladas (literally like the ones on the box just not as pretty lol) invited my mom over for brunch & told her I COOKED some mole... she praised me because it was just like when grandma would make it. I let her praise me for a while then I finally told her it was boxed, long story short she's a fan. The taste is great, it's not overpowering but definitely has that grandma cooking vibe.
I love that foods are so readily available to just cook and serve without all the extra time or mess. This mole was easy to serve and tasted just like my grandma used to serve me when I'd visit. I was grateful for the time it saved me not having to mix too many ingredients and not being able to get the measurements right to get the perfect flavor. I will buy more to eat again, and definitely suggest topping it over some flautas with shredded cabbage. Delicious
So I admit that I've never attempted to make chicken mole before because it seemed to complicated. But this ready to use mole sauce really tastes authentic, similar to my grandma Lena's. I threw some boneless, skinless chicken in the crockpot and covered it with the mole sauce then added a little bit more seasoning and it came out great! I shredded the chicken then made tacos with it.
This mole Was not my favorite however it was not bad. This could be because I'm used to a more red less sweet Mole. This was on the sweeter side for me but it was not bad at all. If you like it more on the sweeter side you may love this! The consistency was good.
