My fiancée and I were testing out different cake mixes for our wedding cake since we're making it ourselves, and we decided to try tie dye because it sounded fun and we're doing 4 mini wedding cakes all in different styles and flavors. It was super easy to make and the directions were easy to follow to make it turn out correctly. The cake look absolutely amazing and it tasted even better! Neither my fiancée or I really even like cake, but we needed one for our wedding and we DEVOURED the entire thing in a night without frosting or anything. It was so good we decided to use strictly Duff cake mixes for our wedding, and We also wanted this specific mix to be the main centerpiece cake mix as well as one other! It's fantastic!
duff brand is all i will buy for making cakes at home for birthday and special occasions, this makes the best tasting cakes I've ever had!!! i always get compliments and even tho it is not recommended the cake batter is exceptional as well!!!

This cake was so much fun to take to a party. It tastes very good too. I made 5 small layers. The food coloring instruction were precise. The food coloring is not the traditional kind you get in a bottle. It's thicker but not paste. Make a tiny cut in the corner of the food color and it will drop out nicely. I won't make the purple because it didn't look as bright as the other colors. I also ordered the pre filled pastery bags. Tips included. They are great. No mess! I left the sides unfrosted to show the red cake.
We tried this for a birthday party we are doing in a few weeks. It was fun to do. Cakes came out really cute. It was fun to open them and see the color combinations. I read others say the cake isn't good itself, but I disagree. We loved it. Very moist. We couldn't even wait for the frosting. None left and I am for sure going to make these vers buying cupcakes this year.
This cake was brought to me as a present from the US by my friend who lives there and came back to the UK and knows my passion for baking crazy colouful psychadelic cakes. It was super easy to make it by following the recipe and also I added just a tiny bit of ground almonds and almond and lemon essence to make the taste a bit more jazzy. The coulours turned out soooooooo good, deep and bright, everyone was ecstatic about cutting the cake and finding out it was like a beautiful rainbow. I have tried to recreate exactly the cake from the pic on the box, and it was my first attempt to use fondant, it was successful and I loved it. I would ask my frind to being me more next time. Wish we had more variety of this cake mixes in the UK. But i like the technique and defo would try this again.
Looks great except for the purple is off in color. I made this for my little one's first birthday and she and everyone else loved it!
My child loves it...u could just use your own food coloring.
I was disappointed in the colors. They came out lighter than I hoped. So the red was pink and green was mint green etc. Taste great still made a beautiful cake.
I bought and prepared this out of a single box. "whew" The technique is easy the cake looked awesome. The taste however is HORRIBLE. Out of 5 kids not ONE ate past the first couple of bites. This made it really a disappointment because it looked fantastic. It wasn't me I'm sure. All you add is 3 egg whites 2 Tblsp of oil and some water . This says on the box bakery quality. Believe me If I bought something out of a bakery that tasted like this it would be returned immediately.
