Have only used this on a couple occasions since purchasing. Haven't used long enough each time to have any battery issues. Is somewhat lighter than the gas powered featherlite I had before but not by much. It will be nice not having to mix gas with the smell and mess.
This unit has such short battery life with a full charge , not worth the money.
We bought this item from another store in the spring because we liked it's electric feature and that it was so light-weight. It was so light I could handle it no problem. However, the battery would run out before I had gotten all of the way around both sides of my fenced-in front yard and I would have to charge it again before I could finish the front and do the back. It has a safety button that you hold down before you squeeze the trigger and after the first few uses the safety button would stick every time I pushed it down and so when I let go of the trigger I would have to smack the handle in order to get it to turn off. After a couple of months, it burned out when I was trimming under my back porch and got too close to the ground. It stopped and would not restart. I tried recharging the battery, but it never would restart.
motor has limited power......battery has very short charge life....I took a refund
The battery is only a 12 volt.. There's really not that much power to this thing.. Also, for me to weedeat around my fence, and walkway, I had to charge the battery 5 times... So, it took me a good 4 days to just weedeat.. If you have tough weeds to get through, or a lot of them, this machine is NOT for you... I regret not searching around.. I went to the Earthwise website, and come to find out they have a 18 volt weedeater for only $10- $15 more... I wish I would have got that one instead. I'm gonna try to find another battery for it, so I can have one charging, while I'm using the other...
I'd purchased this trimmer on line in January of 2013 my yard is not to big and I do it every other week in summer and about once a month in winter, the battery never last with enough power to finish the job in one shot, even if you keep it charging for 36 or 48 hours, I did every thing the instructions recommend from the bigining, chraging the battery the first time for about 36 hours and charging every other week even when I didn't use it. So I will not recocommend this product.
I ordered it on line and had it shipped site to store. When I went to pick it up, the carton was torn and damaged with part sticking out and taped over. I should not have accepted it, as when I got home and tried to assemble it, the shaft was bent and damaged. I returned it to the store and got my money back. I then went to the Ace Hardware and bought a different brand.
It does not hold a good charge. It would be a good item for a very small yard. If I had it to do over I would not purchase this item. I would not recommend this item. It is lightweight and easy to use.
