I've wanted a model airplane for fifty years!! when I saw this plane, I had to have it. I,m no expert yet, but it brings out the kid in me. It's been a joy flying it, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to be a kid. Be sure to follow instructions and begin by practicing on the internet. Have lot's of fun!!!

I have made approximately 20 long flights and only recently broke the first propeller, when I accidentally flew it at full throttle into a wire landscaping basket. Fun to fly, and I even let my little (22 year old) son fly it! AncientPilot - 61 years.

Rudder Falls Off

This plane is easy to fly and pretty fun. The main problem is every time it crashes, and sometimes when it lands properly, you will spend more time looking for the small black steering rudder than flying the plane. You also need a very large area with no trees and soft surface for the plane to fall on. The directions say you need an area the size of a football field. I would say double that would be better. The wind needs to be calm too. By the way this is the second plane my 7 year old has had. The first one lost the rudder within 10 minutes. I thought we may have better luck with the second plane. The rudder just comes off too easy.

The Estes Sky Squadron Flyer is not as durable as it looks and crashed into the side of our house upon it first usage and flight. I'm glad there was a replacement propeller, but dang. Anyway, my husband and sons have not been interested in trying to fly it since.

I bought one for each of my nephews 6yrs. & 10yrs of age for X-Mas. This was their first radio controled plane. After a few tries at it, the styrofoam wings came off. The instructions said to use clear tape if this would happen, so we did. In fact, the whole plane is pretty much covered with tape after about 1/2 hour - 1 hour of play. I felt I could've bought one from the Dollar Store with just about the same value as this cheaply made plane! Not too pleased about this plane, definitely not what we were expecting.

My husband tried flying this plane and it crashed and propeller broke within minutes. He said it was hard to control. It does come with additional propeller but we are afraid to use it again, just to break it. Would be better if it came with a hand full of propellers.

first it was alot bigger than i thought it was i thought it would be small enought to work in the house. i have flown it twice and both times it went about 2 foot then crashed braking the front propellor. it would be ok to buy if it was less than 5 dollars but i would not pay nany more for it than that

Well, it lasted about an hour. if used over grass it will probably last a little longer, but the prop broke on the 1st landing, and the entire thing was destroyed on about flight #9 when it dove nose-first into the asphalt...when it was flying, it flew pretty well, but it won't work well unless the winds are calm...the slightest breeze effects where it's going

I purchased two of these Estes Sky Squadron Radio Control Park planes in which I was planning on donating at least one to charity, however I'm so glad I did not. Instead I gave one each to two of my nephews, one in Oregon and the other one lives locally to me in Los Angeles. I saw my nephew in Los Angeles at a family function this pass weekend and I asked him if he enjoyed his gift from me, he looked up at me with his big beautiful eyes and said "it doesn't work" and at that time his father interjected stating "Yeah, it doesn't work, I made sure I read the instructions and put the batteries in correctly, and when I initially turned it on, it make a reving sound for about three seconds and then nothing, I kept trying to get it going changing the batteries, re-reading the instrucitons and still nothing". I was embrassed number one, because I would never want to give a child something to enjoy and not have it work. My brother in law told me how excited my nephew was when he opened the gift and saw what it was, he couldn't wait to get outside and play with it. Then he told me how disappointed he was when it didn't work. My brother in law in Oregon informed me that the one I sent to that nephew wasn't working either. I don't have money to waste and if I purchase something that is defective, I will return it. So in conclusion I plan on returing the toys as soon as they are retuned to me and I will seek a refund and give my newphews gift cards and they purchase something else. I'm SO glad I did not donate them to charity because number one a chld who receives a donated toy may already be experiencing some disappointments and I would be so so sad to have given a toy to a child in need and have them be disappointed by it not working. Plus I would have never known that there is a problem with this toy so if someone had to have the negative experience, I'd rather it had been someone I know so I can rectify the situation. But I'm still loving me some WalMart (smile)

disappointing airplane

I was disappointed when I received the airplane for my son. I assume I didn't read the specs very well because I didn't know it would be so small and so fragile. After receiving it, I decided 'oh well' and to keep it. Unfortunately it's not a sturdy plane to have. I wouldn't recommend it for any age for that reason. Younger children would need to be too careful with it and older children would want to be able to do more with it. (It's all styrofoam.) The directions- check for any knicks and damages after each flight and change the batteries in the remote (6 double A) after four flights. That's a lot of batteries. And every flight it has to be checked?? I personally would search for a more sturdy plane for any age child.
