This vacuum consistently picks up things that my roommate's Dyson leaves behind. I have purchased several slightly different versions of this vacuum for different homes over the years and wouldn't use anything else. Yes, it is a little bit heavier than some others and yes the switches could be easier. BUT it cleans amazingly, lasts a long time, and the cost/value is fantastic.
I am a professional cleaner with 28 years of experience. When I first saw this vacuum at my local Walmart store I immediately knew it was the vac for me! This vac is very well made, and the 12 amp motor really puts out a powerful suction! I find that the on board tools, and the on/off switch to be quite comfortable and user friendly. I love using this model! Many people have noted that this model can be quite cumbersome, but trust me, and it can be a little cumbersome if used on a lot of area, but it is because it is well made. Eureka makes many types of vacuum cleaners so the savvy buyer will do a little research to determine exactly what their practical needs are. I love these Boss Smart Vacs so much that I now own 4 of them, and a Eureka "Powerline" model 2905 A. The Powerline is very useful for the person who needs a basic lightweight, powerful suction upright, bagged upright vacuum. These lighter vacuums are perfect for senior citizens, or handicapped people as it is very lightweight. The Powerline is very basic with no particular "bells and whistles", just a well built, powerful motor simple upright. The Eureka vacs are simple to use, and maintain, and all the bags, belts, and filters can be found at the local Walmart stores. Try a Eureka upright vacuum and you will love it!
I am the cleaner of the houshold (Dad) and we have three young active kids. I purchased this vacuum a few weeks back and it peforms like a champ. Very easy to move around, high powered to handle all messes made by my kids. For the money, it is a definite value and I would not hestiate to recommmend it to anyone. Eureka has really taken the user into mind. The handle, the ease of moving around, the holders and storage area...
Love this vacuum. This is the 2nd one I've purchased, one for me , the other for my daughter who liked mine so much she wanted one as a birthday present.
I went to the local store and looked over the displays. This vacuum seemed to have the power and features for which I was looking. When I looked at the price of bagged versus bag-less, it seemed to me that you would practically be paying the cost of a new vacuum after 6 times of changing the filters (as most bag-less require TWO filters). This would equate to every 2 years. The cost of bags for this vacuum was $5 compared to a secondary filter on bag-less ($15). Assembly was quick and easy. I was surprised by the strength of the suction.
My trusty old Eureka Powerline upright finally bit the dust. (Pun semi-intended.) It was literally being held together with rags and spitting out dust, so, I decided to get another Eureka. When I saw the SmartVac at "Wally World" the other day, (as I write this, I've had it only a couple of days), it had a pretty decent price, and I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdily it appeared to be constructed. Despite the fact it's all plastic, it's not flimsy, and, it's nice looking. PROS: It's QUIET. With my old Eureka, I had to wear hearing protection whenever I used it because it was so LOUD! Not necessary with the new one. It uses BAGS, but then, if it didn't, I wouldn't have gotten it because I HATE bagless!! And, OMG!! The suction is AMAZING!!! I had a pile of dog hair in front of my dog's crate that had been there for quite some time because my old Powerline, as good as its suction was for lighter weight dust and dirt, just wasn't powerful enough to get all that hair. I ran my new Eureka over that pile just ONCE, and it looked like that hair had never even been there! I was astonished!! I've NEVER before had a vacuum that picked up pet hair like that! CONS: OK, so it IS a bit on the heavy side, but I really don't mind. The heaviness just makes it feel more substantial, that it's well constructed and not flimsy. (At least it's not as heavy as my grandmother's old Electrolux. THAT'S heavy!!) The controls, with the exception of the power switch, are a bit stiff, but I'm attributing that to their being new, and when things are new, they often tend to be a bit stiff. (When I first got my lawn tractor, the shift stick was very stiff and hard to use, but it loosened up after a while.) Also, the HEPA filters aren't cheap to replace, but I'm going to try and find cheaper replacements online. If not, I won't be replacing them all that often. Overall, I feel the positives far outweigh the negatives. With a vacuum that picks up pet hair as well as this one does, (and for the price), I feel the negatives can be disregarded.
Great vacuum for a great price! Consider purchasing a model that includes the power paw; it's a worthwhile attachment. I plan to buy one soon. This vacuum is heavy, but it is still easy to use. Only disappointment is the included attachments aren't great, but they still work okay.
I have been very disappointed with this model (after using it now for three weeks). First, it's very heavy and tough to maneuver. But even worse, both the switch to turn off the carpet broom and the switch to release the handle for sweeping are extremely difficult to operate and often take two hands (or feet) to make work. I called Eureka customer service and they acknowledged getting complaints about the switches on this model -- but the only solution they offered was to (these are their exact words): "try to put more muscle into it when engaging the switch." The switches are poorly designed and constructed. Muscle is NOT something a vacuum cleaner switch should need. Only positive: The price for the unit was low, but it stands as an example of "you get what you pay for." I would not buy this model again.
