I don't understand the comments here, this IS NOT a deep cycle battery, it is a MArine STARTING battery so using it for a trolling motor is an improper use of the unit. Also most any battery that sits in your boat for months with no tender will be bad when you come back. For me I actually use these for my 24 Volt Dozer but no matter what you have to keep a charger on them if your not going to use them for months at a time.
This battery has served me very well, I would recommend it. I bought this battery 9/2008 for my 115hp Yamaha, it failed to take a charge today, 4/2014. That's just over 5 years of service. Granted I used it lightly, but never charged it over the winter months, in North Florida. I will be buying another tomorrow. Marine cranking amps 625 @ 32 degrees, cold cranking amps 500.
I have had this battery on a RV 34ft 2 slides for 4years, and it will still charge, but needs replaced dropping amps from 12.27 to 10 when I run the front jack up and down. I use the rv 45 days a year. Just remember Walmart is open 24/7 if replacement is needed....
My plan is to use this battery as the main power supply for the Ham Shack. All of the lights are already LEDs and Most everything can be run either by straight 12V or through the 500W inverter. The radios are 5 Watts each, HF and VHF/UHF. Tower outside has long dipoles and a super discone. The beauty of this battery is that it is ideal for long periods of medium-low amperage. I am using a house-current Minder to make sure it is always ready to go. We had a power outage just last week, which showed up a few things that need to be finished. Solar really doesn't matter much for now with such short time duration blackouts. This will let us operate for hours. So the main maintenance task is to never use super-fast chargers. It is not designed for that. Check water levels religiously. Another thing is to make absolutely sure you never, ever, draw a spark on the top of the battery, especially after charging. Hydrogen mixes with oxygen, releasing lots of heat. It can actually explode. There are a lot of uses where this is the ideal solution. Have fun.
This batter did more than the job. A brand new, fully charged batter with great cranking power was what I wanted and that is what I got. The price was very reasonable and I would recommend this batter to anyone. Thanks Walmart.
I use 4 of these batteries in my Travel Trailer hooked up to a 160 watts of Solar, 10 amp Charge controller & 2500 watt inverter (mod sine wav ) . Purchased in May 2012 and still cranking up today6/24/2014. I run my Walmart Mini fridge, Microwave, LED lights and Heat all on these batteries NOT ALL TOGETHER !! but they work fine. The trick to keeping these batts in good shape is to check the water regularly and keep them charged all the time. My Charge controller works like a Battery tender when not under load so i am always at 12.8 trickle charge and 13.8 when charging.
I purchased a battery last year from an auto parts store. As it started to warm up in February I went to start my 1988 motorhome and the battery was dead. I tried to charge it. It would not take a charge. I returned to the auto parts store I bought it from and was told it only has a 1 year warranty. I did a little research and discovered deep cycle batteries need charged often. They are designed to discharge over time. I also found out it is common to only get a one year warranty on deep cycle RV/marine battery. I'm hopeful the Everstart Marine battery will last more than a year.
So I decided to grab this battery for its price. The reviews were good except for those trying to use the battery as a deep cycle battery which its not so I got it. Anyway I haven't had it long but it does what I need it to do which is start a 1972 55hp bearcat. I did wonder if the 625 marine cranking amps would be enough but its more than enough.. Great buy overall and couldn't find a better deal.. Although Academy did have there starting battery on sale for $69.99 (1000 MCA)... Thanks
Bought this in spring 2014 for my jet boat . worked fine for first year kept it on a tender in winter. used it once or twice in winter when power went out on my converter to power a few LED lights. Will not hold a charge this spring. Up in air about purchasing another...
Used on a pontoon boat and maybe cranked 40 times in a year. When battery was 10 months old, had to charge with remote charger. Battery sat for 2 more months, cranked up fine. One month later tried to crank but battery dead. Would not take charge. Called Walmart in Sebring Fl and clerk said there was only a 90 day warranty, but now I see where there is free replacement for 1 year. Unfortunately because we only use the boat on maybe two weekends a month during the summer our warranty ran out before we could detect the problem. Purchased 3-8-13. Would not buy this battery again.
