Everstart brand batteries are a division of Exide (General Battery) and they have had a LONG partnership with Yasau of Japan. Yasau is the standard OEM battery in nearly all Japanese and many domestic motorcycles. I have had mine for 3 years and have had no issues. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!!! You MUST wait at least ONE HOUR after adding the electrolyte solution BEFORE you put the battery on a charger. These are GLASS plates and the acid needs that time to absorb. The initial charge is THREE to FIVE hours per instructions. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS and you will not have battery issues. Keep the vattery on a maintainer when not in use and you will get years of life out of it.
This is the second everstart battery we have purchased. The first one lasted longer than was antisipated.
I use my 2004 Polaris 500 about once a month on average, and this battery is replaced yearly over the last 3 years. I don't know if another battery will last longer under these circumstances, but I will look for another to find out.
Drove all the way out to our lake cabin with the newly purchased battery. My husband went to unbox and get it charged, but of course they didn't have the acid in the box!! So be sure to look before you buy! What a pain in the butt , plus driving 60 miles around trip to get what we paid for!
to me it $ 99.99 wasted
Purchasing this battery was a lesson in what to look out for. Caveat emptor - let the buyer beware! Nowhere did it say before purchase that this battery needed to be assembled. Specifically, the liquid electrolyte, which contains a mild acid, had to be poured into the battery and the tops of each cell closed up. This all would have gone alright except someone had removed the funnel that you need to dump the liquid into the battery, and someone had also stolen the caps for the completed battery. So, I filled the battery at home as best I could, and then noticed I had no caps to seal it up with. Arrrgh! Back to the store with my battery in a plastic bucket to get a replacement. Much to my surprise the replacement battery was on the shelf in the store, with all the right parts and pieces, and at half the price as what I paid on-line! Tell me again why I ordered on line? What a train wreck. Lessons learned - never buy online because you really don't know what you are getting, always check for missing parts in the store (guess you have to read the directions before leaving now) and in the future purchase batteries already assembled and ready for use.
This battery might be made by a division of Yuasa, but it is not a Yuasa battery! My Suzuki DL1000 requires a high energy battery due to being a v-twin and high compression. 15 months after installation the battery does not have the ampacity to start the bike. I have charged it high amp and low amp, but the ampacity just isn't there anymore. Battery price is a function of the amount of recycled lead is used to make the battery, and battery life is inversely proportional to the amount of recycled lead - I'd guess this line of batteries uses a lot of recycled lead. They may be ok for a less demanding application, but if your application requires a strong battery, do yourself a favor and pay the few extra $'s for a Yuasa branded product - it's worth it!
