We eat salads almost every night of the week, they slice the veggies quite well and don't crush or pucker the tomatoes when slicing them. Used the larger knife on chicken breasts last night and it sliced through them like they were made of butter. I've always had good luck with this brand and would definitely buy this set again. A really good value for the price.

These knives don't seem very sharp at all. It's VERY hard to slice an apple. I don't know much about knives, but some older, smaller, steak knives I have cut through one much easier. Not too attractive, although it takes up very little counter space. Good enough for the price, I suppose. At least they have not rusted yet.

It says stainless steel and we are returning our set because they have corrosion (magnets jump over them...), and not sharp anymore for a high-carbon item after 2 weeks of use on light vegetables, etc. Will not go again with Farberware. The only plus was the grip and look. A quick Wiki review: "There are a few different ways to tell the difference between steels. There are a few different types of Stainless steel so some tests work better than others. The 300 series stainless steel contains Chromium and Nickel which makes this steel non-magnetic but the 400 series steel contains just chromium which makes this type magnetic, so first test is if a magnet does not stick to it then it is stainless steel. If a magnet does however stick to it is does not mean that is is high carbon steel, so proceed to the next test. Examine the steel, does it seem to have any rust on it, any red oxidation of the metal which indicated a higher iron content which is found mainly in carbon steels, stainless steel will NOT rust in this way, so if you don't mind putting it to the test try putting a blot of water on it and leaving it over night, if red rust occurs it is carbon steel, if not you have stainless." Rated it one star because there is nothing lower.
