I am doing a review on the Fellowes Venus 2 125 Laminator. It looks really professional and expensive. It looks to be made very solid and sturdy. It needs a lot of space. It is really large. It is 21.3" Depth x 8.2" Width x 5.1" Height. This would look good in a doctor's office. When you turn it on it takes it just 30 to 60 seconds to warm up. It comes with 10 3ml pouches. It will accept pouches thickness up to 10ml. I am very impressed with the 3ml which I used. I can't imagine what a 10ml would look like. I am going to have to get some. You can buy those online. The opening where you put the laminating pouches is 12.5" wide. It will accept smaller widths than that too just not more than that. I wanted to see how it worked so I made some of my own bookmarks and ran them through the pouches into the machine and they were great. I did not expect it to be that easy and turn out that well. Once you run it through it will come out of the back on top of a tray. You must immediately remove it and place on flat surface or it will curl. I also laminated a coloring page that my daughter drew and want to save it forever. I do believe it will with this laminator.
The size of the Fellowes Venus 2 125 Auto-adjust Laminator is about the same size as a regular printer, but probably slightly smaller. Usually schools have huge laminating machines (for posters and such), so I thought this printer was ideal for home (personal use) or maybe an office setting, where most items that need laminating are about regular printer paper size (8 1/2 times 11) This laminator seems to be ideal for laminating documents and papers. It is a little bit heavy, but not too heavy, so I suggest placing it somewhere stable or flat surface. For me personally, I usually like to just place my laminator on the floor so I could plug it into an outlet near the wall. The laminator is pretty simple to use. First, plug the laminator into an outlet. Next, turn on the switch (located on the back & right side of the laminator). After that, turn on the machine by pressing the power button located on the top surface of machine. As soon as you press it, the power button should light up, and the machine should start humming. Then, place the item you want to laminate into the laminating plastic sheet provided. Be sure that the closed side of the plastic goes into the laminator machine first. The machine will slowly suck the item covered in the plastic, which laminates it in the process. And wah lah, the item comes out laminated. There's also another button next to the power button (looks like a recycle arrow) and that's for emergencies, like in case the item gets misplaced inside the plastic, you can press this button so it ejects the item. Kind of like a redo or eject button, which is really useful. Overall, I really like this machine because it's simple and cool to have around. I definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to laminate documents ALOT.
I have started setting up a home office and I finally had everything I needed. Computer...file cabinet...printer/copier...wait ...I needed a laminator! What type should I purchase? Well, thanks to The Spark Reviewer Program , I had the privilege of reviewing a good product. The Fellowes Venus 2.125 Laminator. It was designed for the office. It is a sleek , black appliance trimmed in silver. very modern and elegant in design. It was very easy to set up. Plug in the back and switch on. Some technical info: The unit has 1300watts of voltage and 11 amps. It weighs in at a paltry 14 lbs. and the maximum document thickness is 03". The entry width is 12.5", minimum pouch thickness is 3 mil per side and the max is 10 mil per side. Estimated heat up time is 30 to 60 seconds. It also has plenty of useful features an auto hot/cold button...a reverse button ...carry handles...and a mil indicator. This laminator is perfect for everyday projects like laminating photos and recipes. It is also perfect for protecting documents and newspaper articles. This unit also comes with 10 letter size laminating pouches so you can start on your projects when you open the box. It is a great product.
I have never used a laminating machine before, so I have nothing to directly compare the Fellows Venus 2 125 to, but the specifications are pretty impressive, and it has done a good job on everything we have sent through it so far. As homeschoolers, we have a lot of uses for this machine (flash cards, reusable worksheets, art projects, calendars, schedules, etc.), and I sure it would also come in handy in an office environment. The overall looks of the unit are pleasing (see attached picture), but it does take up a lot of desktop area (it is much longer than I imagined at 21.2 inches; it is 5.1 inches high and 8.2 inches deep). It includes a feature they call “InstaHeat technology” that allows it to warm up quickly (less than a minute). It also boasts a laminating speed of 40 inches per minute, and can laminate up to a thickness of 10 millimeters. It can laminate documents up to 12.5 inches wide (if you don't need to laminate this wide, you probably want a smaller/less expensive laminator like the Fellows EXL 45-3), and will automatically shut off when not in use to avoid overheating. We have not noticed any issues with the external components becoming uncomfortably warm to the touch. Overall, we are very pleased with this machine and look forward to years of use (it comes standard with a 2 year warranty).
The Fellowes Venus2 125 Laminator is one BEAST of a machine for anyone looking to create professional and high – quality lamination. The possibilities here are literally endless! I'm blown away by just the sheer solid state construction; at 14 pounds my only concern is that I'll knock it off the desk and break my toes. The entry width is 12.5” allowing plenty of room for any standard size documents whether it's a certificate, diploma, picture, business card or luggage tag. There are so many innovative gadgets and features I'm really not sure where to begin. Incorporating a sleek 6 roller system, ‘Fellowes' undoubtedly has captured the engineering essence required for flawless laminating. Set – up is incredibly easy with only one attachment being the ‘exit tray', which simply slides right in to the back of the unit. Since I'm always double checking to make sure I've turned off various devices within my house, the ‘Sleep Mode' function, which operates much like a standard printer/PC, placing the machine into standby mode if not active for 30 minutes is a priceless peace of mind aspect. Depending on exactly the size and pouch thickness of your project, it really does only take 30 – 60 seconds to heat – up. This device is so well automated it's as simple as faxing! With various thicknesses, the laminating pouches range from, 3 ml, 4 ml, 5 ml, 7 ml and 10 ml maximum, whatever project you have the ‘Autosense' element will detect and self – adjust for optimal lamination results. I am very impressed with this ‘Venus2 125' laminator by Fellows (this brand makes several other models; I am only reviewing this specific model). This model sets itself apart from other laminators for so many reasons. The setup was quick and easy, it is easy to figure out and use whether you have had any experience with a laminator before or not, doesn't take a long time to heat up, laminates pretty quickly and the sheets actually come out cool to the touch! No burns, bubbly plastic or weird smell with this one. It really does a great job laminating most home projects and small office needs. Not really sure what bigger offices use, but this one covers everything I need both for home and for work. It even comes with a special cleaning sheet to keep it running smoothly and 10 laminating sheets to get started, so you can get started on a few projects or documents right off. It is pretty big, but that's in order to accommodate any letters or papers up to an A3 page size. So for instance, if your kid just painted or drew a masterpiece that you want to laminate and turn into a placemat for them to use (or hang on the wall, while still preserving it), you can do that. It is also great for any dry erase games that you want to print out and laminate to use over and over again (a tic-tac-toe board is an extremely easy one to print/draw and laminate and little kids get so excited to play it over and over again). I have also found this useful for laminating my daughter's board games that she creates on her own on paper. So many times that she created her own board games with her own rules and pieces that just fell apart until now. I am considering getting a color photo printer now, if I can find one that will actually hold up this time, to laminate some photos to make as photo coasters, scenery placemats for different seasons and holidays, wallet photos that always tear and fade in the wallet and photo mouse pads to fit the mood. Until then, I wonder if I can just use real flowers and leaves to make a collage out of it to laminate for nice seasonal placemats. Will probably have to press them first and maybe line them between two sheets of wax paper or baking paper. I wish it came with a project idea and guide booklet of some sort to let you know what all you can put in it and what you can not. One thing to note though is that it actually has all various different sizes of laminating sheets, so you need to buy the correct size to fit your current project. You need separate pouches for business/membership cards (that fishing license we just printed will hold up a lot better next fishing trip), separate pouches for letters/instructions/activities, and separate pouches for placemats/board games. This is actually not bad at all, because that way you use up pretty much the entire pouch for each project, so almost nothing or nothing at all gets wasted. I find the different size pouches available for this product quite helpful and easier to use than one standard size pouches. Overall, this is an excellent device to have around for crafty/creative individuals. It will take many of your projects to the next level with the durability it provides for your projects. Highly recommended.
In an effort to more fully equip my home office, I thought a laminator would be an excellent addition. Being unsure of brands and models, I did some quick research on the items I saw most recently offered. I finally decided on the Fellowes Venus2 125. The speed of warm up and processing was described extremely favorably. I had no real anticipation of size, but focused more on the expected functionality. When the box came, it seemed a little heavier than anticipated and somewhat larger than casually thought. I took it to my office, to unpack and place it. I was immediately surprised and thoroughly impressed by the size of the actual unit. It was extremely professional looking. My immediate reaction was that this was way too serious and probably too complicated for a “home office”. The directions are very clear and understandable. I simply followed the steps, and it was very quickly operational. The unit functioned exactly as described in the accompanying paperwork. After identifying a document that I wanted to preserve, I followed the steps and produced a laminated sheet that came out absolutely perfectly. The instructions said to run a test product before doing something important. This unit worked perfectly, without any test runs. I did, however, run the ‘cleaner sheet' first. The addition of this unit gives my home office a feeling of being upgraded to a more professional status. I recommend this item to anyone who wants a functionally well rounded home office environment.
Fellowes Venus2 125 Laminator .....OMG .... This is an awesome Laminator .. I love the fact it is cold and hot .. Easy to use and fast ... This machine is a lot nicer than the cheap brands ... It does very nice laminations ... I love the lights on it, that lets you know what is going on ... And the reverse button is an added plus in case of a jam ... This machine does not limit you, like the old laminators ... in using it, everything has turned out beautiful, no bubbles or curling ... It is so easy to use ... I only use it for hobbies and laminating recipe cards .. But I am very pleased with it ... It does come with a small instruction booklet, but no instructions are needed ... The only cons I have for it, it is a large size, so not idea for a small space ... I do recommend this machine to everyone ... It is a must have item .....NOTE: I received this item from Wal-Mart Spark Review in exchange for my review ... My opinion is 100% my own...
Included with the laminator: -Several sheets with customer service phone number, website, registration information, and Helpful Laminating Tips -a thicker page called Laminating Roller Cleaning Sheet which you use after each laminating job to clean any excess glue that may have been left; an Instruction Booklet -10 Laminating pouches - Letter size, High Sheen Gloss with a 3 mil thickness The exit tray is easy to push in and to remove. Also make certain the plug is pushed in all the way. Also this machine is very well made and sturdy. --The first thing I laminated was a form for a grocery list or other notes. It sealed completely. ---The second was a drawing that I had created using the Illustrator software which was chosen for the 2005 "Between The Lines" South Ark. Community College publication. (So you know I did not want it destroyed or messed up.) I used what I thought was the cold seal but it didn't seal (The error was probably my fault). -------I separated it easily and put the sheet back inside - it was staticy but I was able to return the picture between the pouch before sealing it using the hot seal. And as stated in instructions, you may have to trim off the excess seal. I was thrilled to find online that you can buy other sizes with different thicknesses, especially the ones for business cards. I do wish it had movable-type guides so that I could be more certain the pouch/picture was going in correctly because the letter size guide-lines are in the middle area and you have to slowly push in the pouch while making certain that it is between the guide-lines. This is pretty easy to use and I feel that I only need to use it a few more times to feel real comfortable in using. - This Laminator would be of great use in any business and schools to keep forms, business cards, and other items like new.
The Fellowes Venus 2 Laminator is wonderful for my small office needs. I would not recommend this particular one for someone who needs to do big laminating projects or needs to be laminating on a daily basis. I only need to laminate occasionally and it has worked great for that purpose. I did find issues with the laminator in trying to Laminate too many things at one time. There is a period of time between each laminating jobs that you do need to wait or the third sheet will not addhear as well. Also need to pay attention to the instructions and allow the laminator to heat up fully prior to starting the project. This particular laminator is rather big, so you also need to make sure you have plenty of room to allow the laminated sheet to come through the back side of laminator. The sheet is warm to the touch and if it does not come out onto the attachable tray it has a tendency to bend slightly which causes a slight bow in the laminated sheet. I'm speaking from experience on this one. Thought I did not need to attach the slide tray on the back side and found out that there is a reason why they tell you to do so. The laminated sheet was ok until I tried to hang it up on the wall for a sign. It does work, but I had to use more tape to keep it flush them the next one I laminated with the correct slide tray attached. Also make sure not to leave the Laminator on once you have completed your task, it has a tendency to heat up and keep running.Make sure to turn it off. A nice feature was the fact they supplied me with 10 test sheets to explore/ play with in learning how to use the Laminator. It also help me in knowing what to order for future use. I do like this laminator and would recommend it to a small business owner or someone who just needs a home laminator for school projects.
