Decent shredder

Not much one can say but it does shred easily and seems to have great power and speed. I think you can shred about 8 pages maximum without bogging down the cutters. I like the top handle for removing the lid/motor unit to empty the bin. It does have a auto stop once the shredded paper gets up so high. I suggest you empty prior to that because the cutters get jammed with paper if not. Overall this is my second Fellowes unit. The last one died unexpected but gave me several years of service. Like any unit, be sure not to do too much at one time or you will overheat the motors on these units. I wish they had a fail safe thermostat for shutting down until it cools off but I think these units do not. It would be nice if all personal use shredders would come with cooling fans to assist in quick cool down for these units. But overall for the money spent I think you could not do any better unless you buy a several hundred dollar commericial unit.

Just what we were looking for in our home office

We were replacing another shredder (from Fellowes) that served us well for several years. My wife managed to overload it often while disposing of old patient records without a problem. But this time, it finally gave up the ghost, after a section of one of the feed gears inside broke into pieces. They looked like nylon, or very tough plastic, but they were really pretty beefy. I guess they had just had enough, after our serial abuse. The old one had worked well enough for us over several years that we decided to look for another one like it. Of course, the specific models have changed since we bought the old one, and this one is the closest we could find in the Fellowes product line. It is just what we need. It's not intended (or built) for high-volume use, but we almost never have more than a few sheets at a time to shred, every day or two. It handles a small stack at a time with no problem. We just split a larger stack into batches, and run 'em in. It does a nice secure job of destroying the documents, though it's a bit noisy like all of the small units, and meets our needs nicely in our home office situation. It handles several sheets at a time (it's rated at 8), and the auto off/on functions seem to work well. It also has a new feature which wasn't on our old machine: the lock, which could be handy in some situations. We don't really need it, but someone with children would probably appreciate that addition. It's easy for an adult to operate, even one handed. But it could keep little fingers safe if you have to worry about those. It can handle credit cards as well, one at a time. It will eat staples, but the instructions warn you not to put paper clips in, (though I am mystified by someone even wanting to do that.) Staples can be a pain to remove before shredding, and with this machine, you don't have to do that. It eats them just fine. It has an automatic overheat shutdown system, which resets automatically if your duty cycle taxes it too much. (Hasn't happened yet to us.) The best recommendation we can give you is that we bought a second one from Fellowes. That should tell you about our satisfaction with the other one. If you need a good workmanlike shredder for light to moderate duty in a small office, this could be your ticket!

I was pleasantly surprised how efficient this shredder is and it is miuch better than my last shredder. I am also pleased that I can use any type of vegetable oil instead of having to buy oil from the manufacturer (according to the people at Fellowes.

Was pleased to find that Walmart carried the Fellowes brand of shredders, this is an old name in the business and is reliable. Right after unpacking, I put in a bag & turned it on....worked great!! Especially like the lockout feature, makes accidental running/shredding impossible. This is my second shredder, first one SAID it would do all this one does....lol, it didn't!! Have no qualms that this one will serve me well...bought the additional warranty but fairly certain it will not have to be used...

Excellent product...Just make sure in proper position....I have a wee bit hard time sliding the unit to its proper position..for individuals with not as strong hands as others it would be nice if each position moved more easily.....it does shred great!...Thank You...

The shredder meets my expectation. Even though it is a little bit noisy, but it is expected. I follow the instruction to oil the machine and I think that is very important. Overall I am very satisfied with it.

This shredder works great and the price is excellent. Just what I needed. Sure it is somewhat noisy but that is tolerable for the convenience at this price.

Bought this shredder since our other one died. It is doing great. Have used it almost everyday. It does not overheat which is good. You can put in 10-11 pages, however, it really slows down when you do. I typically only put in 2-3 pages at a time, depending on the paper weight, but it keeps going well, so that is OK. I did buy the Fellowes oil from the web site, much more reasonable, and it helps with the running of the shredder. Overall, great little shredder for the money.

I've only been using it for a short time(3 weeks) but have yet to have it stop while shredding.Multiple pages inserted at one time does slow down the shredding process but not significantly and just what should be expected.Great for home use.

If you don't mind the loud noise when it shreds then this is for you. Also, the top that sits on the wastebasket is pretty heavy for those of you who are older. You have to take the top off to empty the wastebasket. My other shredder had a pull out to empty the wastebasket which was very easy to manage and it also had wheels for easy movement. Would have gotten another one like it but it didn't last very long (about a year) so opted for this one. Had I known I would have to remove the heavy top to empty it I would have gotten a different one. Would have given it a 5 star if it was easier to empty wastebasket.
