My son (6.5 years old) got this as a gift from his Grandmother. He LOVES it. My 5 year old daughter likes to use it also. I like to, too because it isn't as loud and obnoxious as a real, authentic drum set with the cymbals and all. Toys like this are good for rhythm, coordination and learning timing. My son has recorded many beats (they were pretty good, too) I like that the sound can be adjusted. (I don't know how long the batteries last in this thing, but if you have kids who use a lot of electronic toys, you should invest in some rechargeable batteries and a battery charger, anyway.) We have not had it long enough to speak on the longevity.
My son wanted a drum set after his old one stop working. When he received it he loved it and played it all day. It's a nice drum set for the price.
I would not recommened this product because of the issues with shipping through Mayfair. Although Walmart did not charge shipping, Mayfair did and the Walmart website did not make me aware of this. To Walmart's credit, I was given a 15 dollar e-card, which was the cost of shipping.
The best thing about this item is it was delivered on time with good packaging. The 4 plus star review on the website was a joke. I purchased this to replace a drum set from another vendor that wasn't going to be delivered before Christmas. Fortunately for me it was. I'm now stuck with this piece of junk that doesn't even sound like a drum set even when it works. A lot of effort is needed to generate a sound from one of the pads on the set. In many cases no sound is generated at all. The pads have no sensitivity. I can't imagine a child having any fun with this. They should rename the product Last Act and retire it.
Very disappointed in the cheap quality of workmanship. No where on the box does it say the need for batteries, or if able to plug into electric. Sound does not adjust to quality needed levels.
